Zara’s Nightmarish Chalkboard World.

------------

Corey and Oats were all about using their imagination and creativity to express themselves and they loved seeing others do artwork, but one day the two of them were feeling very sad when Piff and Tangie’s expression of love in the form of the fish chalkboard mural was removed.

True, they had been told that everyone had to take turns but they were crying because they did not want to say goodbye to it. ‘But that is the symbol of my love for Tangie, who is my sweet fish-cake.’  ‘And Piff is my delicious sashimi with two spring rolls!’ Anglo laughed at their food their food themed terms of endearment so hard he turned bright red.

‘That gets me everytime.’  ‘And we know Zara isn’t exactly as talented as Mel.’ ‘And she has a thing for kiddie characters and Peter Pan, she will probably either draw Peter Pan or Simba because she is a big baby.’

‘Give her a chance.’  ‘How about uhhh…nope?’ ‘Corey, come on, she could do something really clever.’   Piff gulped as he saw Zara drawing something up on the board,  he was horrified at what she was doing…’Okay, why is there a duck with two tails and no head?’ ‘I think that’s supposed to be a cat.’  ‘It looks like it’s hiding its own secret wish to die.’

Zara drew the sun shining in the sky and Piff rolled his eyes…’Okay what is the sun supposed to represent? Is he smiling because he is emotionally fulfilled with his life or is he smiling because he is pretending to hide his feelings of isolation?’  ‘Who made you an art critic, Piffy?’  ‘Pufferfish are naturally gifted artists.’

Which was followed by flowers and the word ‘wavy’ or ‘happy’.  ‘What do you guys think of this piece?’  ‘I don’t know, Zara does not know a thing about proper character development. Why is the cat smiling and why does have no legs?  Why is the sun smiling?  What is the message here? Is this really about some kind of propaganda that is telling us to hide our emotions and to be happy all the time?’

‘Come on, Piff - be nice.’  ‘I’ve tried to give the artist the benefit of the doubt but this does not have any plot to it. Or any thing that would even make it a so bad it’s good piece.’   Piff got an idea as he pulled out some chalk and drew a speech bubble next to the cat and the speech bubble read ‘Help, I have no legs and I am in pain!’

He then doodled a version of Zara and wrote ‘I stink at character development’ on it and he drew a monstrous worm coming out of the ground to eat the flowers and he made it look like the flowers were made of blood.  ‘There, this art piece has been improved.’

Just then the cat leaped off the chalkboard, moaning and groaning as if it was dying…’Help me, help me, please…help me, I cannot move my legs because my creator fused all four of my feet together and i’m all head and tail.’  ‘Poor thing.’  Tangie used the chalk to create a new set of legs for the cat.

The monstrous worm lunged at the chalkboard as did the crude monstrous version of Zara,  dubbed Araz, Araz stomped her massive feet as she rampaged around the house, roaring and scoffing down chocolates and chips like an animal.  ‘Araz likes chips, Araz likes Peter Pan and junk food.’ ‘Am I really like this?’ Zara asked.  ‘Sadly, yes.’  Piff responded.

They all fought off Araz and the giant worm before they had some lunch followed by afternoon tea and they battled more creations that had been brought to life. ‘See?  This is what happens when you do get to do the chalkboard, Zara. You make monstrosities like these.’  ‘But it is not my fault.’

‘Yes it is, look at that poor cat.’  They used some magic to erase the rest of the chalk-monsters before re-desiging the background to make it look like a HR Giger painting of a fantasy forest setting with a cave that had a monster inside it.  ‘That poor cat had no legs until he came along to fix him.’

The cat walked over to them…’Thank you for granting me the gift of something my creator could not have given me, legs. I am now extra happy and I can go back to my world with a smile on my face.’

Araz roared as she grew taller than before and ate more and more junk food.  Tangie drew up a wand much like the one used by Rita Repulsa and brought it to life,   waving it at Piff and the others. ‘Magic wand, make my Piffikins and his friends grow!’

Piff and the gang all grew to the same size as Araz and fought her,  the pufferfish entered a fighting stance and did a sumo wrestler style pose and lunged into battle, charging at her and defeating her with a super sonic blast that made her explode into pieces.

The cat jumped back through the chalkboard and into his improved chalk homeworld where he lived a much better life and the worm followed suit, as all they all finished just in time for dinner.  They all sat down together and had dinner.

After dinner they all played games as Piff and Tangie went fishing with all their friends and Piff showed off his fish collection which he had earned and they all relaxed before Mel emailed Jill about their adventure, explaining what had happened.

They had a karaoke contest and when their contest had finished, they all got ready for bed  - an hour later - with Corey putting on his bat pajamas and Oats putting on his pink night-gown.   They all hurried into the bathroom to brush their teeth.

Afterwards they returned to the bedroom and gathered up all the friends before jumping onto the bed, they jumped on the bed and all laid down as they all said good night to each-other and Piff turned off the lights, they drifted off to sleep and they all had sweet dreams as they did so.

And so another adventure had come to an end but more are coming up, so stay tuned.
