Piff’s Little Online Adventure
NOTE: This story is themed around the online universe and how it works and also has a bit of my personal history in it.
---------------------------------
There were many types of adventures everyone’s favorite duo would go on including ones into the online universe, the only universe had many universes based on online content such as Deviantart with its own Deviantart Verse and city known as Deviantart City, there was Furaffinitia which was the sleazier counterpart to Deviantart City and several others but Mel had always been part of Deviantart City at least since 2011, but it hadn’t been easy.
Prior to Mel becoming a major character in the online universes and coming to fruition as her own character, she had only existed as part of Nathan’s crew of characters during his awkward days as Dr Music, Dr Music was this extreme persona he created for when he tried to hype up his own attempt at a production company back when he worked for Amiright Magazine. Amiright Magazine was a parody/humor magazine that published song parodies and even allowed people to do audio parodies on their radio show.
Back when Nathan used to work there he did not seem to get along with some of the other members because he felt some of them were too uptight, and as such he felt like no matter how he tried he could never find his ground as a parody writer, when he tried to talk about someone he loved he’d be viewed as being obsessive and when he talked about something else and tried to be different or even a little bit weird, they acted like he was on something and talking nonsense. He could not even figure out what he wanted to be, he hyped his on would-be production company up via blog entries and elaborate publicity stunts and acted like anyone who challenged his opinion was conspiring against him, he had no problems with the magazine or the owner of the company behind the magazine, but he felt some of the other employees were ‘jealous’ of him or trying to conspire against him.
He very much snapped when one of the other writers who was actually a demented wannabe stalker who was somehow offended by Nathan’s love of certain comedians called him out in one of their own parodies, feeling that the other writers were siding with said writer for no reason other than they thought he was weird and very much started berating them, which ended up derailing his career as a writer once he was ‘fired’ from the magazine in 2008. He got fired from the magazine in 2008 specifically in August, and all of his articles had been removed. He admitted in later years he got parodied over how they talked about him: ‘my guess is he’s a touched early teenager in the body of an adult male’ ‘what kind of person makes up their own production company and poses as their own OC to promote their own parody songs?’ ‘That boy ain’t right.’ ‘Like what the hell, does this guy not know that the NotFreaks aka Amiright Magazine After Dark exists?’ ‘I used to be genuinely touched by him but now I feel he has gone too far’, were just a few of the ‘colorful’ things said by said writers about him. He admitted it that he was a bit too arrogant back then and tried to hype himself up too much, admitting that it was a stupid dea to use multiple different forms to hype up his vanity projects.
Since then he had been trying to make a name for himself but unfortunately, this phase in his career wasn’t the career boost he had been hoping for. Even looking back at them now was embarrassing for him and he himself admitted his Drmusic2 era was one he would never go back to, especially not in the current era of his career. And even on the occasions in which this would happen, it either just be a mention or a joke in a meta sense or it would be for a time travel episode. Time travel episodes were rare and they had only had a few of them.
And now in this current era that is still ongoing Corey and Oats were always going on adventures both in the world around them and in the online universe, one day the gang along with Piff had just lunch were looking at an assortment of different online universe content as Piff was playing a game called Fishdom where you could catch your own fish.
While trying to get to level 609 on Fishdom Piff discovered a secret code which he used and it opened up a portal in the middle of the screen, the portal swirled around and around as the group of friends stepped through it and through the screen which took them into the online universe realm. Upon entering the online universe realm they saw what was known as the ‘Forgotten Blogiverse Series’ which had all the failed attempts at series set in the Blogiverse i.e the Blogger universe.
Piff was curious about it and he asked Mel..’Says here these are from a series of tv shows called the Blogiverse featuring numerous blogger characters. Do you know anything about the Dr Music character that is featured in quite a few of them?’ ‘Oh that is one of Nathan’s old characters, he created and portrayed the Dr Music character on quite a few shows in that series.’
“What about these?”
Oats looked at several of them and Mel recognized some of them since they were numerous failed attempts by Nathan of trying to hype the Dr Music persona up with several shows, his original show on there was ‘Inside The Lab’ but it got cancelled during the tail end of the awkward Drmusic2 phase of his career and he attempted numerous spins off including ‘Tales of Amusement’ (which only lasted a couple of months before he abandoned it), ‘The Dirty Truth with Dr M’ (which was his attempt at a bizarre in-universe reality show based on his persona, only lasted a couple of seasons and was very much just an elaborate prank series), ‘Dr Music’s Nocturnal Nightmare’ (which was the basically just an attempt at a parody of paranormal drama shows),’Monstermaster13’s Monster Resurrection’ (this show was supposed to be a reboot of his old show ‘Inside the Lab’ but with a modern self aware edge to it), ‘Doc M’s Tales From The Desktop’ (which was basically an attempt at a show about his persona and his beef with Amiright Magazine, did not last long either).
‘Mommy, you didn’t tell me that our friend Nathan worked on these projects.’ ‘I have, it’s just he doesn’tl like reliving his past.’ ‘Makes sense, unless it’s a time travel episode.’ ‘Oh yeah, we’ve had a few of those in the very first few seasons of our adventures.’ ‘Some of these shows have potential.’ ‘Yeah and if Inside the Lab was not cancelled and replaced with that Cinemania show, we could have gotten adventures about us in that show’s universe by now.’
Piff was seen looking at the other projects Nathan had worked on that failed…’Huh, I did not know that he used to be on Live From Myspace City.’ ‘Myspace City was a huge hit back when the online universe started making television shows, and Nathan had several characters he created for it, sadly, said tv show does not exist any more because it got cancelled.’ ‘And he had his own Red Karaoke Production label?’ ‘He did but much like with me, he got a lot of criticism about his singing and it very much got to the point he got pissed off when someone from that non-canon Daloliverse made fun of him for it.’ ‘He’s on the Livejournal Fandom Patrol show?’ ‘Yeah, yeah he was a contestant for a couple of episodes and he got to meet Will Ferrell afterwards because he entered a Megamind trivia contest.’
He looked around and explored with Tangie and he saw another artifact from Nathan’s past career failures in a collection of items…’Ebaumiverse Comedy World? What kind of show is that?’ ‘Ebaumiverse was this comedy variety show based on internet humor.’ Corey floated up and added…’I remember that fake child services agent that tried to take that Mariana character away was from a skit in that universe, using the Mr Meany avatar from that Ursula Hitler series with all the people transforming into things.’ ‘Oh yeah, that was that time travel episode where we stopped that demonic imposter social worker.’ ‘Oh and those annoying characters who made fun of the Mariana character.’
‘You guys are giving me quite the history lesson.’ Piff responded. ‘And look, MemeVision.’ Mel added as she remembered when Nathan was a writer on that show. ‘MemeVision?’ ‘MemeVision is another humor based site and magazine. I remember he submitted captions for that magazine and even wrote for the show but got made fun of for some of them.’ ‘Wow, he used to write and produce so many shows.’ ‘Not just those, have you even seen what he came up with before he came up with our adventures?’ ‘Well I know you have shown us that in the museum with the Hessian mini-series and its remake, and also the spin-off about Nathan as a vampiric version of Christopher Walken. And you showed us the good guy and villain teams he and you originally created.’
‘More than just those, Nathan planned on doing a whole series based around the Dr Music persona called the Mad World of Doc M which was supposed to be a paranormal action show with some interesting characters. And he also came up with the Military Koalas comics and tv show.’ ‘You mean that tv show about anthro koalas who fight crime and are based on musicians are part of a series he made?’ ‘Oh yes, and it’s probably one of his most popular shows.’ Piff was amazed. ‘There’s that werejohncandy character too, he had his own spin-off at one point too?’ ‘Oh yes he did, he had his own Mr Rogers style kids show with his girlfriend Cassie. In fact Cassie originally started as a character who manifested in a very early Tales From The Web episode where she was a fan of the show who was a human female who got turned into a female werejohncandy as a gift from him for winning a contest.’ ‘Which episode was she on?’ ‘Cassie’s Origin.’
‘And hey…a cute ladybug character.’ ‘That’s Doizee. One of the very first original gang members, she was the title character in a kids show Nathan wrote for and even has multiple movies and books about her.’ ‘All these characters are ones I never knew about, until now. And they are amazing.’ ‘Does that werejohncandy still appear?’ ‘He does, but not very often in the Deviantart Universe. Nathan retired the character after 2012 and did not do any more work featuring him due to being bullied and teased for it.’ ‘He was bullied for just making a harmless character?’ ‘Yeah it was quite a stupid thing for them to do to him, yeah his publicity stunt of being in the form of that character was a bit extreme but it was not that awful, it’s just that people like that don’t get satire.’
Piff was fascinated to learn so much about these shows from the pre-Monstermaster13 era of Nathan’s career as they all walked to where the Amiright Magazine company building was, Mel looked over at the line of editors who had all packed up and had started to get ready to live due to the announcement of the cancellation of the song parodies in the magazine and online, and it becoming a subscribers and readers only network which had been announced February and were heading home, along with several former writers being interviewed about it ‘Why are they all leaving, mommy?’ Oats asked. ‘Well the magazine and company’s owner announced way back in February that they were thinking of cancelling production on the parody section of the magazine that focused on song parodies, and also making it into a subscribers/readers only feature. And now it’s just an archival gallery of the magazine throughout the years it was running and the show Amiright on TV got the same fate.’ Mel responded.
Corey and Oats both saw all the former writers from the magazine leaving and Mel shuddered as she recognized the one who had made Nathan lose his mind in the first place. ‘Ugh, that crazy person who posed as Jay Leno and portrayed Jay as a stalker in one of the worst skits ever produced by that show is there.’ Piff decided to float up to said person and teach them a lesson. ‘So you’re the crazy psycho who thought that mocking Nathan in a skit was a good idea, huh? Well then, since you claim to be an expert on humor, how about this?’ He used some magic to turn the crazy woman into a talking onion-headed scarecrow. ‘Onions? Why do I have an onion head?’ ‘Because onions are funny.’
“Would Nathan still likely come here to mourn the magazine?”
‘He still occasionally posted parodies for that magazine up until January of this year. But for the most part, I do not think he is going to be likely to mourn for it or attend the funeral for that magazine if it does eventually get replaced or go out of print. He might do it in a different way, or he might have already known about it.’ ‘So do you think he would likely still come here to do it?’ ‘Nah, he’ll probably do it in his own way. He has already reconciled with the writers he had minor conflicts with and they haven’t said anything about him in years, so I don’t think that there is a possibly he’d be invited to the hypothetical funeral.’
Piff watched for a little bit before looking around and finding a cafe, when they arrived at the cafe they had some snacks for afternoon tea before taking one last look at the Amiright Magazine building and the former writers packing up and leaving, this was followed by a visit to an arcade and he even stumbled across Nathan’s old ‘Photobucket Files’ magazines which had photos he had submitted on there, Nathan had recently cancelled his subscription to that magazine due to the prices to stay on being too high, the last place they all visited was the site of where the ‘World of Monsters’ TV show was once filmed - which was followed by them heading all the way back to the online universe exit portal area.
Upon entering the exit portal area they all jumped through it and the portal took them all the way back to the online universe realm selection area, where they jumped through another exit portal, this time the exit portal swirled and twirled in the opposite direction as they all jumped through it and through the screen, ending back in Nile Road just in time for dinner.
Piff immediately got to work on making dinner for all his pals, making a special Japanese dish for them all to eat and after dinner Mel emailed Jill about their adventure and about how all of her friends had learned a history lesson today including Piff, Piff and Tangie went fishing and caught a lot of fish, which was followed by a karaoke session.
They played games for a couple of hours and when their fun session was over they all got ready for bed with Corey putting on his bat pajamas and Oats putting on his pink night-gown, they brushed their teeth as they all hurried into the bedroom. Piff initiated his signature closedown sequence which he always had at the end of each day, he had both an good morning sign on and a closedown sequence both featuring an animated pufferfish that resembled him.
The morning sign on sequence featured an anthropomorphic pufferfish wearing pajamas yawning and jumping out of bed followed by the fish brushing his teeth and taking a shower, when the fish would come out of the shower his pajamas would morph into day clothes as a night time background morphed into one reflecting the day time as a good morning message appeared on screen and vice versa for the closedown.
Piff and Tangie both jumped into bed as he kissed her and they had a calming bedtime activity session consisting of playing with fish themed plushies, snuggling with squishmallows and playing ‘Guess the Bathbomb Scent’ before he laid down and gave a good night speech which was ‘This most certainly was an amazing and dare I say educational adventure and I learned so much from going into the online world alone, who knew that Mel’s pal Nathan had worked on so many things before Mel and all of us were introduced? I certainly did not know that but I am very glad I do now. And now we are all getting ready for bed to rest, and so are all our friends - so we all wish you a goodnight and I wish you a good night as well, goodnight to you all, love from Piff.’
They all drifted off to sleep and had sweet dreams as they did so, Anglo turned off the lights and drifted off as well - and they all had dreams of their online adventure, including Piff who dreamed of attending an online fan community club session with his friends.
And thus their dream had come to an end but more are coming up, so stay tuned..
-------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you all for enjoying this story, this story is very much based on my online history before joining Deviantart and it is a personal story, of course it is told through the virtual universe of the internet as well as using Piff as the one who learns all about this, now I have made it 100% clear that the Drmusic2 era will never be revisited again due to how I feel ashamed of how I was specifically acting back then and being ashamed of my older work from 2009-2011, and in general. I went through a ‘humanity sucks’ phase where I did nothing but monster characters whose sole trait was ‘hates humans/wants them to be the same species as them’ and that was a pretty dark phase for me i’m ashamed of and yeah…if anyone wants to adopt any of the old characters I made, I might put them up for adoption if I don’t retire them, I retired a lot of my early story concepts from back there due to not being able to continue or finish them and retired quite a few character forms my character has had over the years, they still get mentioned but they aren’t as prevalent as the others are and either get mentions or small cameos in recent works but not full on major parts, unless I can remake or redo them.
The Drmusic2 era will never actually be canon in-universe at all due to the fact half of the fake Nathan storyarc with the Daloliverse takes place in a twisted parody universe and that has already been explored before, I do not have any plans to do any sequels or spin-offs to that specific universe’s specific story-arc, it already got mentioned/alluded to and that is what the time travel episodes are for so if you want those, there is Corey and Oats Teach the OL Chimera a Lesson, Corey and Oats To The Rescue, and Corey and Oats in The Case of The Impostor Social Worker, and that is about it from them apart from mentions in this and both of the Deviantart City centric adventures.
But nonetheless I hope you all will enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it, and I thank you all for continuing to be fans of my work.
