Hessian Hex Remake Part 3

 Hessian Hex Remake Part 3

-----------------------------------------------------

After running around town, the both of us had finally arrived at the library and as you know in the original story this is where we did the research scene, so basically here we were..together, in the library looking around for books that contained the answer to our predicament, it seemed like we were the only people there as everyone else…must have gone home.  ‘Here we are, let’s find some answers.’  ‘Can I help you two?’  ‘Uhhh…yeah.’  ‘What books are you looking for?’

“Are you the librarian here?”

“Book-keeper, yes.”

“Good, because we could use your help.”

The book-keeper smiled as she turned around…’What kind of book are you looking for?’  ‘Supernatural, curses.’  ‘Ah, that would be the occult section.’  I wandered around checking all the sections, non-fiction, fiction (all categories), poetry, and then I came across the section that had the most selections, the occult section.

There were countless books about curses and of people being punished by deities for their misdeeds, a lot of it sounding like early revenge-fics before revenge-fics were a thing, I read the stories and then looked over at the lorebook on the shelf. I picked up the lorebook and read it. ‘Ah here we are, the grand book of hexes and the makers that cast them.’

Flicking through the book I found all sorts of hexes including bad luck hexes, energy stealing hexes, hexes to make someone fall for you, and then I found the one I had been plagued with. ‘Hessian Horseman Hex, when cast by a spell-caster on the victim, transfers the soul of the Hessian into the victim.’  ‘And…’  ‘Also makes them into another Hessian? Oh dear, so that’s what has been happening to me, this cannot be good.’

I shuddered before I grabbed the lorebook and asked if I could borrow it, the book-keeper said yes and me and Rebecca left the library, running out before encountering some shadowy monsters. ‘Damn it, wish i could fight these guys but don’t have my powers anymore.’

The shadowy monsters circled me and looked like they were going to attack me but suddenly…my eyes turned from brown to aquamarine blue as I found myself able to knock them down easily as if I had developed superhuman strength.  ‘’Did you do that? That was amazing.’ ‘I didn’t know I couldn’t do that either, or that I had superhuman strength but there you go.’

My eyes turned back to normal as I got up, adjusting my jacket…’Now does the book say anything about a cure? I don’t think so. Maybe we could ask the alchemist about this, it seems like he’d know about this.’ ‘That sounds like a good idea.’ So the two of us headed over to the alchemist’s next door, luckily it was open and we asked him what to do. ‘So is there a cure for this?’ ‘There is but it’s very messy, you might need a bit of help.’  ‘That’s a relief though.’  ‘Oh and you might need more cowbell too.’  ‘That certainly lightened the mood.’  ‘No problem, I can help you if you like.’

“We’d like that.”

We left the alchemist’s store but the alchemist decided to come with us as he knew the answer to my predicament, my only problem was likely to come next.
