America’s Sweethearts Review

America’s Sweethearts Review

Disclaimer:
This is a review of a Christopher Walken movie from a fictional vampire-like monster that is named after him.   This is mostly part of the Walken reviews series and is made to be humorous in nature.

Chris:
Hello dear human readers,  creatures of the night and fellow Walkens.   My name is Christopher,  the alpha Walken and i’m doing an extensive study on humans and how they perceive my kind, humans are very peculiar creatures aren’t they?   They have no claws or razor sharp pointed teeth but they can still hold their own on occasion.

They tell such strange stories about us Walkens,  they portray us as villains.  When we only scare and punish those who are bad.   We are actually quite polite and nurturing.  We only get violent if we are threatened.

Anyway...I think it’s time I got into doing another fabulous Walkeny review.   Well as I mentioned, I am doing a study on humans.    And this movie is also a study in human behavior.  Specifically human movie star behavior.

Released in 2001 on July 20th,  this movie is none other than America’s Sweethearts.  Directed by Joe Roth,  this movie deals with the process of filmmaking and the little things that go on behind the scenes.

It tells the tale of a film publicist named Lee Phillips who is played by comedian Billy Crystal and how he is dealing with the messy breakup of movie star couple Eddie Thomas and Gwen Harrison.   Eddie is played by John Cusack and Gwen is played by the alluring Catherine Zeta Jones.

I have heard there is a certain human reviewer who remembers it so that his viewers don’t have to who has a thing for this woman -  and yes...I heard he’s the guy with glasses.   Remind me to pay a visit to him sometime.

The broken up couple are manipulated in someway into attending the press junket for a movie directed by the demented film producer Hal Weidman (played by Chris Walken,  naturally) who hostage holds his copy of the movie they’re making.
Often Gwen’s friend Kathleen "Kiki" Harrison is called upon to do half of the work and to make sure things don’t take any wrong turns.   But there are several twists and turns that occur in this film.  Turns that may cause some turmoil.

When the press junket finally takes place,  many are afraid that the movie will end up ruining Eddie’s career or the careers of the other cast and crew members.   The final cut of this little movie within a movie turns out to be a little on the brutally honest side and shows what went on behind the scenes.

Which causes an outrage and some of the cast members to get ticked off at Hal,  including Hector -  Gwen’s boyfriend who is played by Hank Azaria.   Especially seeing as Hal filmed them without their knowledge or permission.   But this is what he planned all along.

I must say that is a pretty clever move.  Especially for a man like that.  See?  That’s why Walkens work extremely well in the entertainment industry! But luckily everyone makes up in the end and everything ends well for everyone.

A lot of human critics hate this movie but I love it - especially seeing Walken being at his Walkeniest here.   He even gets to laugh maniacally.   Now that’s a terrific Walken performance right there!

This movie was pretty entertaining and thought provoking too,  and it’s a good look at the process of filmmaking and what happens behind the scenes.   The cast is all wonderful here,  I know I didn’t list everyone but still.. it’s such a colourful cast that it would take one separate page to write up a list of all their performances alone.

I really enjoyed watching this movie and researching this as part of my Walken reviews,  it’s my job as a Walken to host these wonderful Walken reviews segments.   And to tell you all about my experiences as a Walken along the way.   This movie was delightful and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I give this movie a 10 out of 10 on the Walken scale and give it two long sharp clawed Walkenized thumbs up as well as a high recommendation.

Speaking of which...are you all still watching the All Walken TV Network?   Now what kind of question is that...of course you are!  You’ve all been hypnotized to watch it.   And I bet you’re all enjoying it so much, especially since I started airing all that good Walken centric programming.

Btw….this Friday is Valentine’s Day or as we call it - Walkentines Day which means it’s the time of year where love is all around.  And i’m a Walken in the need of a new She-Hessian/Walken Huntress to be the love of my supernatural life.   No underage female humans please,  only late teens or adults.

I’m Chris,  the alpha Walken and this has been my review of America’s Sweethearts,  now if you excuse me...i’m going to go and continue my study on humans and then maybe hypnotize some of my subjects on camera.
