Piff Learns A Lesson

NOTE: This is a horror themed comedy story about Piff learning a lesson for being such a bad little fishy and as such is meant to dark in a humorous way,  not in a sad way and it involves elements similar to horror anthology stories.

Corey and Oats had many adventures with their pals including with Piff and most of the time Piff was a very good fish who always listened and had the best ideas for the family but sometimes he was a very bad fish,  and one such instant got him in trouble with his friends, one night after Mel was feeling bad about what happened to Riko,  he decided to torment her by putting some rather bad thoughts in his head.

Those particularly bad things being his rather horrifying words which consisted of him taunting her…’Riko is broken because of you, you got angry at him, it’s your fault’ ‘It’s your fault, it’s your fault.’  ‘You’re a bad parent, Mel.’  Which made Mel have trouble sleeping and gave her nightmares of Riko haunting her as a ghost moaning…’Why did you desert me? Mom, why did you desert me?  Don’t you love me?’ and even having nightmares of all her family members and friends turning on her because of his words.

And even worse one nightmare had her standing on trial on what was essentially a kangaroo court with a squishmallow jury and Piff as the rather demented hanging judge, who despite Oats doing his best to defend her -  declared her as ‘guilty’ and had her taken away where she was forced to spend time in a prison cell with some of the worst parents in history.  She could not sleep because of this, and eventually she decided enough was enough.

So one day she decided to call an intervention, she told everyone that it was a special silly surprise party for Piff when it wasn’t, but Piff did not know that.  So while he was busy posting videos on Youtube to show off to his pals, everyone set up the surprise in the lounge, and Tangie and Ed the zombie snackle told him that he had to come and take a look.

Piff skipped into the room singing as he did so…’Alright everyone, i’m everyone, i’m here for the party.’  ‘Oh you silly silly fish.’  Aiyido quipped. ‘What? Am I late?’  ‘Oh no no, you’re not late, you’re just on time.’  ‘On time for what, is it my birthday?’ ‘Oh, didn't we tell you Piff, this party isn’t a surprise party.’  ‘It’s not a party?  But Tangie told me it was a party.’  ‘Did I tell you that? Sorry Piffikins, I lied a little.  This isn’t a celebration, it’s…’  ‘YOUR intervention, and YOUR punishment.’   Jahna the Giraffe snackle responded, her eyes glowing.

‘Punishment?  What did I do this time?’  ‘What did you do, what did you do? Oh you silly pufferfish, don’t play dumb, we know exactly what you did, you told Mel she’s a bad parent because she didn’t know how to soothe Riko’s pain. You corrupted her dreams into nightmares and you made her have trouble sleeping.’  ‘I didn’t mean to. I was trying to…’  ‘Trying to, what…prove how evil you can be sometimes?’  ‘Evil but i’m not evil.’  ‘Normally we like your funny, quirky, mischievous antics and your weird sense of humor, because despite the fact you own weapons and make lewd jokes,  you’re very much mostly harmless.  However, this was just unforgivable, this was the most evil thing you have ever done.’  ‘I am sorry, I won’t do it again.’ ‘We know but we need you to promise you won’t. I am sure Riko is very hurt by what you said as well,  yes I know Mel didn’t know how to take care of him when he was all angry, but she made mistakes and made up for them, you on the other hand.’  ‘Guys, this isn’t funny, I was promised a surprise party.’  ‘There is no surprise party.’  ‘What?’  ‘This is your surprise.’

‘What do you mean by that?’ Piff asked, the usually confident and cheeky pufferfish was feeling more than a little bit nervous as the lightning around changed and altered, the whole background around him taking on a sinister aura, with a mixture of dark greens and purples that gave it the vibe of an 80s horror movie.

‘Gather around everyone. It’s time for storytime.’  Mel sneered, her eyes glowed as a sinister cursed book appeared in her hands. ‘Where did you get the book from?’ ‘Oh from a very special place, and now my favorite troublemaking fish, it’s time for a scary story.’  ‘A story?’  ‘Yes.’ She started to read the book. ‘There once was a mischievous little pufferfish who lived in Nile Road’, she read,  as the story started, the story started as Mel narrated it.

‘The little mischievous pufferfish often played pranks on people and he loved ladies.’  ‘Oooh I like this fish already.’  ‘And his name was…Piff.’ ‘Piff? That’s my name.’  ‘Yes.’  As she told the story the story came to life, depicting Piff in the story itself pulling pranks on his friends and the staff and holding up his ‘hello ladies’ sign while not wearing any undies under his kimono as he was singing ‘i’m too sexy for my undies, too sexy for my undies,  too sexy it’s not fundie.’  As he shook his tail like in that video where he had a big butt.

The story then depicted Piff and Tangie being invited to a party at a haunted pirate ship attraction, and it showed the fish couple getting in the car and driving off,  and like in a typical horror story the car broke down just as they were close to arriving at the destination of the attraction. ‘Oh no Piffikins, the car has broken down and we are both in a horror story of sorts.’ ‘Oh don’t worry I know how to deal with this. Hey Lem, I know it’s you behind this, you can come out and make things easier for me.’  Piff exclaimed, trying to act tough as he got out of the car.

But there was no one there to hear him, all the two fish could hear were ghostly voices coming from what appeared to be a nearby house.  Piff walked over to the nearby house and knocked on the door. ‘I bet it’s just some seemingly nice eccentric old lady or something who lives her, it’s always this trope.’  He quipped as the door opened, to his surprise he saw Mel standing there, except looking a bit like a gothic house owner.  ‘Oh look, visitors. Come on in.’

‘Oh hello Mel, we’re trapped in a horror story. Can we stay at this house even though we know it’s likely haunted?’  Piff asked. ‘Certainly, you can.’  Mel opened the door and what the two fish saw inside appeared to be a lovely little gothic aquarium themed room filled with all the things the two fish could ever want, Tangie was a little off-put by some of the decor like the fish heads on the walls but otherwise she liked it.

‘Would you two like some tea and snacks?’  She asked. ‘Oh yes, because there’s no way that these snacks are not going to be sinister in any way.’ Piff quipped in response. Mel presented the two fish with a selection of chocolate cookies and nice hot drinks to warm them up, Piff of course was trying in every way he could to make sure he would not end up as the ‘victim’ in the story,  he had two cookies and inspected the drinks.

Mel came out of the kitchen with a big plate containing some mini cakes made with what Piff naturally assumed to be pecans and a delicious looking pie that he and Tangie both had together,  he was determined to try and break out of the story and make it more to his liking…’Mmmm this is a good pie, what is it made with?’ ‘Oh I cannot tell you that, dear Piffy, it’s a surprise.’  ‘I want to know what it is.’   ‘Even if I told you I wouldn’t want you to freak out.’

Piff tasted a bit more of the pie and then tasted the cakes as Tangie screamed as ghost fish emerged from a water tank, he then decided to take a look around inside the house and because he could not help being curious, he entered the kitchen and what he saw was truly shocking,  he saw gravestones that read ‘Nemo’  ‘Dory’  ‘Ponyo’  ‘Anglo’  ‘Flounder’ and ‘Klaus’ on them and he even saw a skeletal version of Billy Bass on the wall that came to life and said…’You shouldn’t be in here.’  ‘Why? This is just another horror story cliche.’  ‘You shouldn’t be in here because you will end up like them and like me…get out at once.’

He didn’t listen and he continued looking, and then he heard footsteps coming from nearby, he was relieved when he saw it was Corey and Oats. ‘Oh thank goodness you guys are here, we have been trapped inside a horror story and i’m trying to find a way out.’  ‘What did you do this time, Piff?’  ‘Nothing, we just got invited to this party at the haunted ship attraction and our car just got broken down and we came here.’  ‘You know why you are in this horror story, don’t you?’ ‘Because i’m the best part?’  ‘No, it’s because of what you said.’  ‘You’re a naughty fishy Piff.’   ‘What you did was just evil.’

Corey snarled at Piff as his eyes glowed and he mutated and became undead looking as did Oatsie,  Piff attempted to run out of the kitchen and up the stairs but he was grabbed by another one of his friends…Aiyido the beholder, who had become a ghost beholder. ‘Oh no you don’t, my friends tell me you have been bad.’  ‘I did nothing wrong this time.’  ‘You said Mel was a bad parent, you gave her nightmares, you thought you could tell her such horrible things and get away with it.’  ‘And you’re about to be punished for it.’

‘You cannot escape out of this story without you having learned a lesson.’  Anglo responded, floating up to him. Piff ran up the stairs and attempted to break down a door because he had found some place to hide, and luckily he had found a bedroom that was empty and he ran into it to go and hide inside it with Tangie. ‘Tangie, Tangie, we’re trapped in this house and all my friends are after me, we need to get out of here.’  ‘Oh i’m sorry to hear you don’t like it here, I found nothing wrong with it…nothing at all.’  Tangie responded.

She turned around and smiled at Piff but there was something very unnerving about the way she looked, Piff grabbed her left hand and screamed as it fell off and her scales on the left side of  her wrist were peeling off and making it look like she was rotten and decayed. ‘Tangie, what’s happening to you?’  ‘Piffikins, what’s the matter, don’t you love me?’  ‘No, not like that, you’re all rotten and gross looking, you’re not the fish I love.’  Tangie made sobbing sound as she lumbered towards her boyfriend. ‘Oh but Piffikins, i’m your girlfriend. You’re supposed to love me.’  ‘No you’re not,  you’re all rotten and gross and you’re a rotten defective little freak.’  ‘That’s what you made Mel think about Riko.’

‘Yeah, you made her think she was a horrible parent and you made her call him a defective little freak.  She would never do anything to harm him, you projected all that onto her. Normally we love your pranks and jokes, even if some of them aren’t safe for work but you’ve gone too far, you’re a naughty fish.’   ‘Okay I admit it, I did it,  i’m sorry.’

All of Piff’s undead friends burst through the wall and tried to drag Piff down into the ground, he screamed and screamed,  crying for forgiveness as his usual demeanor rapidly shifted. Making him become a whimpering mess,  he hadn’t been through such a horrific ordeal before, he cried, and cried, and cried.

He barged through the door and headed downstairs and he got out his phone and tried to call for help but the message did not get received,  which was followed by him running into the lounge where all of them were waiting for him. ‘You’re just in time for dinner,  Piff.’

Mel presented a large platter of delicious food for them all to eat,  Piff nervously reached over to the pie and took a bite out of it. ‘I know i’m scared out of my wits but I still want to know what’s in the pie.’  ‘Do you really want to know what’s in that pie, Piff?’  ‘Yes, I do.’  ‘You might not like it.’ ‘I want to know.’  ‘Do you really want to know?’  ‘Yes please.’  

‘Oh if you really want to know what’s in the pie…it’s……’  Mel sneered as she pulled out a bag labelled ‘fish guts’ and presented it. ‘Fish!  The ingredient of the pie is fish guts!’ ‘I have been eating fish guts this  entire time?’  ‘Oh yes, you have.’   Piff screamed as he came to the realization that he had been eating fish guts, he threw up before trying to eat one of the cakes only to find something hard in them. ‘That’s not pecan.’  ‘Of course it’s not.’  ‘Well look down Piff.’

Piff looked down and screamed, he screamed but because he had messed the undies he had stolen from upstairs but because he looked down and saw his little ‘fish bits’ were missing. ‘Nooooooo, my fish bits!’  ‘Yes Piff,  those weren’t nuts.  Those were your fish bits!’  ‘MY FISH BITS?  YOU CUT OFF MY FISH BITS?’  ‘Oh yes, I did.  You’re always making your vegetable based innuendos and  talking about showing ladies what your fish bits look like and showing us your fish bits and telling people to go suck a peanut,  now we’re eating YOUR peanuts!’  ‘MY FISH BITS?  NOOOOOOO, YOU MONSTER!’  ‘See how it feels, Piffy?’

‘Now it’s time for you to suck on this.’  Corey added, pouring a liquid into a bottle and giving it to Piff, the liquid was made from Piff’s own fish juices and his tears, causing Piff to cry and cry even more as he drank it all up.  And finally…with one final scream, Piff charged towards the door and leapt through it, leaving a fish themed hole through it, before he got back in the car, taking Tangie and starting the car back up, but not before they all got lost in a dark tunnel of sorts and Piff was sucked through a portal into a hell dimension as he screamed, crying to not go there.

A couple of minutes later within this very story,  Piff had woken up, he was back in the car with Tangie and he was traumatized because he had just experienced the fright of his life and he looked over at Tangie.  ‘Oh Tangie, I had the scariest nightmare ever and all because of what I did to Mel.  But i’m all better now, come on, I bet the guys are waiting for us at the party,  let’s go.’ 

Tangie sneered at Piff and snarled in a demonic voice…’HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING?’ before taking her face off like it was a mask to reveal she was actually Mel who was laughing and fish juice was spraying out from her mouth onto him.  He screamed in horror, before waking up from another nightmare but back in the Nile Road house…’Phew, that was a horrible nightmare, no more Scary Fish Monster Stories books before bed.’

He opened the windows of the bedroom only to gasp in horror as the Nile House house removed its head revealing Mel’s head laughing and squirting fish juice from her mouth, and the other houses did the exact same thing,  as he screamed once more and this time he woke up for real in the story,  Piff woke up and he was relieved to see that the car had miraculously been repaired as the two of them hopped into the car and drove all the way to the party.

‘And so the troublemaking pufferfish and his girlfriend got to go to the party after all and do you know what was on the menu when they arrived in time for dinner? FISH PIE!’  Mel exclaimed as she laughed sinisterly and in an over-the-top manner.  Which made Piff scream. ‘Okay i’m really sorry,  i’m sorry for what I said on Tuesday.  I know you love Riko even though he has faults and that is what you told us to do to,  i’m sorry I disobeyed you and gave you those nightmares. I am sorry I was an idiot sandwich.’  ‘Say it again Piff. What are you sorry for?’  ‘For being an idiot sandwich.’  ‘An idiot sandwich what?’  ‘I’m sorry for being an idiot sandwich, Mel.’

‘That’s what I like to hear.’  They all had afternoon tea together and had some snacks before dinner, and Piff helped by making some food and even did the dishes and cleaned up afterwards as Mel emailed Jill about their adventure,  Piff told Mel he would never say anything like that again or be a bad little fish ever again.  ‘Remember when you drank that monster potion and turned into a monster fish?’ ‘Yes. I did not like that.’  ‘May that fish monster be a reminder of what you’d be like if you continued to act like the way you did on Tuesday. Piff, please be better, you can be cheeky and funny all you like and even a bit lewd but manipulating your friends into believing bad things about themselves is wrong.’  ‘Yes, Piffie. Remember, mommy made you a celebrity. You wouldn’t have had 300 plus fans/admirers if it wasn’t for her.’  ‘Yes, and also, remember out of all the fish at Kelly Tarlton’s, you were the lucky one.  Imagine if that was some other fish that got all the attention and praise and fandom,  you’d hate that.’  

‘You’re right, I am super sorry and I will never be THAT evil ever again.’ ‘See to it that you don’t, now we’ve got to do something and help Riko get better in time for the weekend, and we’ve got a toy hospital visit planned.  Are you going to comply?’  ‘Yes.’  ‘That’s our Piffy.’

Piff and Tangie went fishing and caught a lot of fish as they played games and had a karaoke session before having a wind down with a relaxing ASMR session and some of Tangie’s favorite things,  Piff even was extra nice to her and let her choose what she wanted their ASMR and imagination sessions to be about as they brushed their teeth and it all ended with Corey and Oats putting on their respective night-clothes.

This time Piff let Mel and Tangie initiate the closedown sequence which featured the animated pufferfish in a video game world themed around different genres of music and running through a maze to get to the end which was where the bedroom was, the background morphed from a daytime background into a night-time background as soothing music played as the fish’s clothes morphed into pajamas and he floated into bed and yawned as he brushed his teeth and the goodnight message appeared on screen.

Piff floated into bed and kissed Tangie before giving the goodnight speech which was: ‘I learned a very vital lesson today, while it is okay to joke around and be funny and a little bit silly and even a little bit lewd it is not okay to manipulate others into doubting their skills or into believing bad things about themselves, especially if the person you are doing it to is your friend or someone who brought you into their life in general.  I was a right idiot fish sandwich on Tuesday and I made up for it today by vowing never to be like that again, nobody wants to be a monster fish, and neither do I.  So goodnight everyone.’

Anglo turned off the light as they all drifted off to sleep including Piff, and now thanks to Piff having learned his lesson -  Mel no longer had nightmares of him punishing her,  unfortunately though Piff had that scary story Mel told him stuck in his mind and he had a few nightmares of being trapped in the house from the story and of being trapped in the kitchen with the spirits of the naughty fishes that had been killed and put into the fish pie recipes.  He did manage to use his manipulation skills on people who actually deserve it like the Alanastiums.

And thus their adventure had come to an end but more are coming up, so stay tuned.
