Werebelushi Rants: Holidays
Werebelushi:
Hello and welcome again to Werebelushi rants, i'm That Werebelushi In The Shades and welcome to another rant.
A wise human once said that March comes out like a lion and goes out like a lamb. And that is very true to this day.
Today's rant is mainly about holidays specifically Christmas among other things. You know..that holiday where we get presents from Saint Nick or 'Santa' as he's called.
One thing I don't get though is this...if you're good you get gifts...if you're not..you get coal. But what the hell happens if you start off bad but become good...then what do you get?
What happens if you've been both bad and good all year, huh? Do you get three wishes or something? Do you get the key to the city? What? What do you get?
ALso if...Santa is supposedly watching you all year long doesn't that make him bad as well? If he himself is bad, how come he never gets punished?
Another thing that bugs me about Christmas is the specials, yeah yeah I know that there are lots of christmas specials that everyone loves.
But there are lot of christmas specials that tend to follow the same cliched plot. My theory is there are two different formulas of chirstmas episodes or specials:
The first one is the A Christmas Carol type plot now this really depends - you get really clever ones from time to time like Blackadder's Christmas Carol, the Muppet Christmas Carol or the Disney versions, and sometimes you just get ones that reak of unoriginality.
Blackadder's Christmas Carol is a reverse version where the 'Scrooge' is a good guy and turns bad at the end.
But most other Christmas carol type plots feature a scrooge-like character, the ghosts (or someone representing the ghosts), and them getting a change of heart at the end because of this.
There's nothing wrong with this but I must object. How many times must we see this plot get redone over and over?
I mean even Jay Leno mentioned this in the early 80's on one of his David Letterman show appearances.
And then there's the It's-A-Wonderful-Life plot. Every movie and tv show has done this, even in fanfic.
There's a character that wishes he/she had never been born or never existed, some magical being pops up and shows them what it would actually be like if they didn't exist or weren't born and the character who made that wish finds that he actually has a purpose in life after all.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it fails. Case in point: Shrek The Fourth..oops..I mean Shrek Goes Forth...oops I mean Shrek: Forever After. What a poor ending to the Shrek franchise.
Also what is with people setting up Christmas decorations before the holiday even starts? I'm serious. I have seen stores in which they have christmas stuff as early as September or October (especially after halloween).
What the hell? It's supposed to be halloween not Christmas, you morons. Save the decorations for Decemember.
Also when some humans can't figure out what holiday their friends celebrate...they just say happy holidays instead of merry Xmas, happy kwanza, happy hannukah, or merry-winter-solstice.
With all the Christmas cheer going around in December there's shopping, carolling, and swapping gifts. You can't run a mile during the xmas season without a million cover versions of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer being blurted out of the radio.
You know with the christmas holidays...how about this? BILLS! FREAK SNOWSTORMS! Scares them doesn't it? Well it should.
This guy comes up to me and says: "Happy holidays" and then asks if i'd like to donate to some bogus charity event which I know is deffinitely a scam.
My response: "Bite me!"
I don't mean to be a 'grinch' or 'Scrooge' but the fact of the matter of is...that there's just several things about the xmas season which really piss me off.
And for Staten's sake when December ends...just take down the tree and decorations and move on! Don't keep the tree up until August. That's just plain stupid and said.
This has been That Werebelushi In The Shades with another rant and i'll see you all again later.
