The Cosmic Shop In The Land of Dreams
NOTE: This story is a belated birthday special story dedicated to the late David Bowie and also made as a nod to Labyrinth which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Everyone’s favorite duo known as Corey and Oats went on many adventures and sometimes they would go into fantastical worlds including ones that were within the land of dreams, and they would have special celebrity birthday episodes.
And sometimes these celebrity episodes would be tributes to celebrities who had past away, the gang had all decided to do a tribute to David Bowie because his birthday was on January 9th, Oats was all for this adventure and so that day after breakfast Oats picked up a book of dreams he had discovered, explaining it was from Mel. ‘My mommy has this book of dreams and I think it would be neat to show it off to you guys.’
“I didn’t know she had that dream book.”
“I’ve seen books like that, they have all sorts of stories in them.”
“Knowing Mel, she probably has some crazy dreams.”
The book of dreams had various dreams that Mel had, including ones about being visited by Bowie’s ghost or even becoming him that had dated back to 2018, and also of a mystical shop of costumes. Piff thought it would be a great idea to use magic from the bedbox to visit this dream as the gang all jumped into bed together and concentrated. ‘If we combine our magical concentration, we can make this bed fly.’ ‘Oh yes, let’s do that. We can do that all together and go on an adventure.’
“Yeah.”
“So let’s get going.”
Piff used some magic as he sat in the bed and the bed levitated and took off, flying through the house before taking off into the air and taking them through the sky before taking them all over the world, and eventually it landed at the entrance of a costume shop in England, when they arrived at the store they all looked around the entrance.
The doors opened as if by magic and the gang all entered the shop to look around, they saw all sorts of masks and costumes, Oats stood there in amazement as he saw a masquerade mask that was owl themed and he saw a script for a play titled ‘Labyrinth’. ‘There’s an actual Labyrinth play, mommy?’ He asked. ‘I don’t think there actually was one, even though Labyrinth themed costume events exist, there has never been a play based on the movie.’ ‘Well this script implies otherwise.’ ‘Yeah. maybe it’s fan-made.’
Piff heard an instrumental version of Ashes to Ashes playing in the background as he looked at what appeared to be a mini museum of costumes, not just any costumes, but costumes that were worn by David Bowie on stage and in music videos, he saw a humanoid spirit floating through the air and he was amazed. The spirit stop shimmering and revealed himself, he was the ghost of David Bowie and he had been living in the costume shop and also in Mel’s dream world ever since 2018.
‘So that’s why in her dream book she mentions transforming into you.’ ‘Yes, I have been trying to communicate with her from the great beyond since 2018.’ Mel remembered the exact dreams and even recalled one that took place on a train and had her and a friend talking about the 1992 movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie that would become a franchise thanks to the TV show starring Sarah Michelle Gellar) and how Mick Jagger and David Bowie were originally going to have cameos as ‘ancient rockstar’ vampires, which lead to David and Mick as ghosts - which was odd because Mick as far as she knew, Mick was still alive and the gang had met the Rolling Stones on two consequence occasions.
“So Mick was a ghost in your dream, even though he’s still alive in the waking world.”
“Yeah, it was odd that it happened.”
She also recounted how Mick and David possessed her and her friend in said dream and the two of them turned into the afforementioned rockstars and reenacted the ‘Dancing in the Street’ video, she never knew why Mick had this ability or why she dreamed of such things but she was never one to complain. After all her friend Nathan had been a fan of transformation since 2005 and Mel had very much been the same way as well,
She found it odd that Mick had a ghost form in the dream despite the fact that Mick was alive in real life, but she knew dreams often did not make much sense, she remembered another instance of that happening and well knowing that Mick was a paranormal fanatic this definitely would not have come across as a shock to her. They had lunch for a bit as Piff took note of the dreams that Mel had.
David Bowie and Oats sang a duet together on stage as he explained to them the lore of the costume shop and how he had been trying to contact Mel in the land of dreams for a long time but due to his magic not working in some parts it had resulted in him appearing as an undead ghoul-like being before he restored his normal appearance, they had afternoon tea and some snacks followed by Piff exploring a secret section of the shop.
Mel looked at what appeared to be a mirror of sorts, it was a mirror that showed all of the gang in multiple forms, including in different art styles. Piff gasped as he saw what appeared to be his monster fish form that he had turned into a couple of times, the first time he had turned into this form it was when he was in Youtube City getting ready for his then-at-the-time-upcoming 300th subscriber special and the Alanastiums had pulled a nasty prank on him by switching the juice he had with a monster transformation potion that turned him into a trouble-maker, and it was a traumatic experience because he was not in control of his actions, but he had gotten over the fear of his transformation.
Which was followed by Oats gaining magic powers and becoming his alter-ego Oatsie Stardust, as he danced around on stage and sang a song all about dreams, everyone joined in and danced to the music and they all partied for a couple of hours. Mel had finally come to understand why David Bowie would appear to her in spirit form and that’s because he genuinely just wanted to be a spirit guide.
An hour later Mel told the gang it was time to go home and they all said goodbye to him before they hopped back into bed, they concentrated and with a combined combination of their concentration and some powerful magic the bed floated in the air before taking off on another flight, taking them all over the world before it took them all the way back to New Zealand, once they arrived back in their home they all arrived back at Nile Road.
Upon arriving back at Nile Road they all jumped out of the bed and walked into the lounge, just before they all got ready for dinner. Piff set everything ready up for dinner and they all had dinner together and after dinner they all relaxed as Mel emailed Jill about the adventure they all had been on and about Piff’s discoveries. Which was followed by a game session and some karaoke as Piff and Tangie went fishing and caught a lot ot of fish.
This was followed by some more games and culminating in a fun relaxation session complete with Piff and Tangie’s favorite activities including the bathbomb scent guessing game, as Corey put on his bat pajamas and Oats put on his year of the horse nightgown which was pink and gold with some red accents.
Which was followed by the gang all brushing their teeth and Piff activated the closedown sequence, this time it was depicted in the style of an 1980s fantasy movie with the pufferfish depicted as a stopmotion character swimming through a mystical maze to get to a magical bedroom that was decked out with an ocean theme, as the background shifted from day to night as the pufferfish’s clothes morphed into pajamas.
The pufferfish yawned as he brushed his teeth and floated into bed and the goodnight message appeared on screen, Piff floated into bed and kissed Tangie before giving the goodnight speech which was: ‘Well we certainly had an amazing Bowie inspired adventure today and learning all about costumes, masks, and about our own dreams and how we view ourselves really made it all a fun experience. And we met Bowie’s ghost which was also amazing. And now we are all going to the land of dreams to learn more, goodnight everyone.’
Anglo turned off the light as they all drifted off to sleep and had sweet dreams including Piff who dreamed of his adventure in the costume, and thus their adventure had come to an end but more are coming up, so please stay tuned.
