Corey and Oats were known for going on many adventures together in the online world and in the world around them,  and they often would go on multiple adventures and make new friends and solve online mysteries and recently while Mel was monitoring activity from the Deviantart City police department website she got a distress signal, and she gathered everyone into the lounge.

Piff looked at the screen and he saw a message of sorts before calling Suku (his twin who was also a Japanese pufferfish who was a big fan of his work) and telling him all about what was going on down,  he saw what appeared to be a grotesque creepypasta-esque version of the world of Deviantart City,  he saw versions of Mel’s virtual companions looking all corrupted and evil, all chanting in a zombie-like manner ‘Mel’s a bad person’  ‘Mel is evil’  ‘Mel is a satanist’  ‘Mel is a controlling monster’ over and over as their eyes glowed.

‘This looks like some kind of bad infection AU has come to life.’ Corey responded.  ‘Nah, this is way more creative than those lazy infection AUs that for some reason became popular two years ago.’  ‘Yeah, it’s just horrible.’  ‘Let’s investigate and figure this out.’ Piff activated a special portal with some magic and they all jumped through the portal and arrived in Deviantart City.

When arriving there the duo and all their friends arrived, Mel was horrified as she saw some of her virtual friends from that universe acting not like themselves…’What’s wrong with these people?’ ‘I don’t know, but they scare the crap out of me.’  ‘I am sure we can get to the bottom of it.’  Mel walked over to one of them and tried to ask them…’Hey it’s me,  Mel. Is there any reason why you are acting out of it today? Look if I did anything wrong I am sorry.’  ‘DON’T TALK TO ME YOU’RE A BAD PERSON, YOU SOUL SUCKING QUEEN OF PAIN!’ the infected friend hissed.

She looked at the infected friend,  he snarled at her and tried to attack her only for Piff to use magic to repel him. ‘Looks like he was not the only one.’  ‘Yeah all of those people are acting in the same way,  like they’ve been brainwashed into thinking you’re not the heroine everyone else knows you are.’  

The infected friends of hers all charged at me, moaning…’You’re a bad person.’ ‘You’re a bad person, Mel.’  ‘You attack innocent people and threaten them’ in the same zombie-like manner,  no matter how Mel tried to convince them,  they didn’t listen, but then Piff got an idea to investigate.  So the gang all headed over to the laboratory building located near the arcade, when they all reached the arcade Piff looked through the lab’s windows and saw the Alanastiums. ‘Ah ha, I knew someone had to be behind it.’  ‘And of course it’s Alan and his gang.’

Tangie looked over at what appeared to be a sample kit containing samples of various supernatural viruses and she came across a case of samples of a plague known as the ‘Rumoritis’  pathogen.  ‘Here it is guys, Rumoritis.’  ‘Rumoritis pathogens infect hosts who are very close to their friends and implant negative thoughts into that person’s head, and makes them turn against their friends and makes them into a corrupted sort of creepypasta-esque version of themselves.’

Piff took note of this as he saw Alan Huntington injecting some of them with the pathogen as Mel tried to fight them off.  ‘Mel is evil, Mel is bad, she hurts other people, she’s a monster.’  ‘Hold on, hold it! Let me ask you guys something,  I know you are all infected and everything but do you really honestly think Mel is a bad person, and the same goes for others who get affected by this, do you honestly really believe this or do you believe they are a bad person just because you got brainwashed?’  ‘Ugh I don’t know, we’re just all brainwashed really.’  ‘So you admit you are all brainwashed.’ ‘Yeah that’s about it.’

‘Figured as much. This happens all the time.  Unless you personally know that person, have met them,  or even both. What makes you all so sure so and so is an awful person?  Sometimes someone who is reportedly an awful person is actually nice, and sometimes it’s vice versa. It’s the internet, not everything you see online is real.’

He then showed them the supposed ‘evidence’,  which wasn’t real ‘evidence’ of Mel doing evil things but really just an elaborate performance she was doing for a horror movie project she submitted..  ‘This is all pretend, she is playing the villain in a new horror project that the Horror Lovers Society wanted her to submit because they heard she’s a great actress.’ 

Before one of them could ask about other things Alan had tried to convince them into thinking was true, Mel spoke up and explained that Nathan had very much been involved in some heinous schemes courtesy of the Daloliverse, which was a sadistic cult of people that treated outcasts of the internet world horribly and made horrible movies to show them off and that the characters of ‘Mariana’ and ‘Natalie’ were both dragged into appearing in movies for this cultic group.

And also that one of the cult members tricked Nathan and almost took control of his Deviantart City account as they heard lunch and snacks for a bit before Piff used some special cure spells to turn the infected people back to normal and they had afternoon tea.  Mel explained that Nathan at the time had been taken advantage of, and that some people took advantage of her as well, which was followed by the gang grounding the Alanastiums and making them eat lumpy potatoes for every meal. 

Which was followed by the gang celebrating and playing at the arcade before they all headed by jumping through an exit portal,  upon arriving back through the exit portal they arrived at Nile Road just in time for dinner as they all had dinner.

After dinner they all relaxed and played games as Mel emailed Jill and Piff and Tangie went fishing and caught a lot of fish and they played games and had a karaoke session, followed by a relaxation session where they both relaxed together and did their favorite relaxation activities including a bathbomb scent guessing game.

Which was followed by Oats putting on his special nightgown and Corey putting on his bat pajamas as they brushed their teeth and Piff and Tangie activated the closedown sequence which featured the animated fish couple that resembled themselves going through a magical doorway that took them into a special bedroom which had an aquatic theme as the background shifted from day to night and their clothes morphed into night-clothes as they brushed their teeth.

As they floated into bed and yawned and kissed as the goodnight message appeared on screen and Piff floated into bed and kissed Tangie before giving the goodnight speech which was: ‘Sometimes the information we learn about other people online may not be real, if you may have heard bad things about someone you like, then maybe form your own opinion of them other than agreeing with what they say,  rumors are just that, rumors, and that is it.  Rumors spread like a plague, don’t let yourself get infected with lies and rumors,  they’re never true and not real.  And that my friend is a good lesson to learn, goodnight everyone.’

Anglo turned off the light as they all drifted off to sleep including Piff and Tangie who dreamed of so many happy adventures and thus their adventure had come to an end.
