Piff’s 2nd Retro Expo Adventure

Everyone’s favorite duo known as Corey and Oats went on many adventures together and one of their very best adventures was one that happened just last year,  on November 8th, 2024 they all went on a magical adventure to the Retro Event expo where Piff first met the love of his life -  a fish named Tangie and had made history.  Now the duo were going to have that exact adventure again and this time,  Tangie would be the one to show him around.

Their adventure began on November 8th, 2025 and after a particularly rough week for Mel due to some out of universe problems with some bad people who were making claims about her and her friends, which meant Piff had to once again censor an episode due to ‘revenge’ elements, the original episode -  a Night of Alterations episode called ‘Pretty Fly For A Bug Guy’ was originally going to be a flat out parody of people who specifically got into transformation via Gametoons and ‘infection’ games and dark AUs in general but due to some people in the community protesting about it the episode had to be altered to be about a shapeshifting horror fan who wanted to have the show-stealing costume and got transformed into Seth Brundle from the Fly remake.

The original episode lead to a bunch of protests from people who thought it was attacking one specific bad character out of universe when it turned out to be anything but that,  and of course it got out of control to cartoonish levels and as such she stopped taking them seriously,  and now their weekend was going to prove to be super special.

That morning they all woke up early and they helped Mel after breakfast and helped him get ready,  after Mel had a shower she gathered all of her friends together and picked the ones that she wanted to go with her,  and they all headed over to the garage and hopped in the van. 

Upon hopping in the van they all drove all the way to Wairau, after a bit of snafu with trying to find a parking spot due to the parking spot being so very busy they all had to take another shortcut and upon leaving the van they jumped out and all had a bit of a long walk as they walked all the way from where they were parked to the Eventfinda stadium where they made their way to the entrance.

After Carmela and Mel paid for the tickets the gang all made their way into the stadium and were given special bands as they all made the way into the expo, seeing various characters including R2D2 and even seeing numerous snack stands, they all walked around and looked at the vendors, there were so many differen ones including ones that sold cds and dvds and ones that sold numerous toys including plushies, Tangie showed Piff to the one that the two of them first got acquainted by and he cuddled her as he spotted a few Spongebob plushes and a clownfish,  there were so many it was hard to choose including Star Wars merchandise ones, and even a Pokemon vendor.

When Mel arrived at the Pokemon booth she picked out a Magikarp plush and adopted him, this was followed by looking at the trading cards and roleplaying game things as well as the action figures, even Carmela got some items for herself and she even got a Pokemon t shirt -  which was followed by Mel discovering a plush of Gary (Spongebob’s pet snail)  but she decided she was happy with her new addition, she smiled and waved at the cosplayers and Piff even saw the Melodylikes stall with all the retro toys.

Mel saw a goldfish watch that was from an 80s toyline called Watchimals and she had her heart set on it,  unfortunately the price was a bit too high for her -  i.e it was over 130 dollars and she thought that she could wait for one to be up for sale for a cheaper price, Carmela shouted her a bubble tea drink which was followed by them all having lunch, after lunch they all decided to head back home.

Piff wished he could have stayed there longer but Carmela did have to return back to Nile Road at around twelve thirty so Jahna could take over from her as they all had another long walk and headed back to the van, upon hurrying back into the van they all drove all the way back home to Nile Road.

Upon arriving back home at Nile Road they all relaxed and had afternoon tea together as they had a fun afternoon adventure,  after that Jahna and Belinda both ordered kebabs which they all had for dinner and after dinner they relaxed and played games, Reiyka had been moderately quiet and happy all afternoon but Mel got a horrifying surprise when she started reading. ‘Aaaaw crap, not again, do you have to get the red virus like your brother? You’re supposed to be better.’  She tried hitting Reiyka to snap her out of it as Reiyka kept turning red.

“You know you should learn empathy.”

“What for?”

“Because you keep yelling at Reiyka.”

“Well if your own offspring acted like that all the time.”

Mel emailed Jill about their adventure as Piff and Tangie went fishing and caught a lot of fish,  as they all played games together and had a karaoke session,  Mel was still a bit  frustrated as she tried to snap her out of it and she kept acting weird,  afterwards they finished up their adventure and got ready for bed.

Reiyka was the first to get taken to bed because Mel thought she was too sick to deal with so she put Reikya in the bedroom.  She frustratedly screamed at her, screaming and crying that Reiyka was acting the way she did, but she tried to kep in discreet, which was followed by Corey putting on his bat pajamas and Oats putting on his princess nightgown,  as they brushed their teeth.

Piff activated the closedown sequence which was depicted in the style of a retro anime depicting the animated pufferfish floating through a magical tunnel that took him into a fish themed bedroom with a levitating bed,  his clothes magically turned into pajamas as the colorful day time background transitioned into a night time one - changing color pallets as it did so as the pufferfish yawned and brushed his teeth before floating into bed and the goodnight message appeared on screen.

He yawned as he kissed Tangie and floated into bed before giving the goodnight speech which was: ‘We had the most spectacular adventure today and we saw so many new potential friend candidates.  I saw the most wonderful fish watch and I wish I could have gotten it but unfortunately it was a bit pricey, but I hope to get one for Mel so she can have a fun fish friend to tell the time with.  And despite the bumps we’ve had to face along the way,  it was one heck of an adventure.  And speaking of adventures, we’ve got another one in the land of dreams, so goodnight everyone.’

Anglo turned off the lights as they all drifted off to sleep and had sweet dreams including Piff who dreamed of all the vendors they had met and seen that day, and thus their adventure was over but more are coming up.

Thank you all for reading and enjoying this story, this story was based on the major highlight of last week that was of course Retro Event and all the toys they had there and believe me after a week of nothing but bad news in the form of people making dumb claims about me that grew into the point of being a cartoon in terms of just how ridiculous it was, it made my week, it really did, this and Friday were both my favorite days of the last week.

Because I enjoyed Retro Event last year I knew I just had to do it this year too, I missed out on the one in March because I was told ‘I already have been’ but I eventually got to go to the November one last week and had a b-l-a-st there and I am so very happy that I did and believe I wish I could have gotten that Watchimals fish watch but it was 139 dollars and as someone who likely will not be able to save up for that much I thought to just wait until the seller puts it for sale for a cheaper price,  and of course i’m glad i got a new fish pal for Piff.
