WB Rants: Controversy.
Werebelushi:
I'm just going to say this...the Apu controversy. This guy got all worked up over the fact people were quoting this character at his show and he is a comedian, shouldn't he able to take a joke? Also...there's more to Apu than just his nationality. I mean look at all he has been through throughout the show's seasons and everything, he is more than just a racial character, he has depth to him. Also I don't want to come across as an asshole but to the comedian who got offended about being compared to this character, seriously...you think that because of Apu Hindus are typecast as store clerks? That's moronic. I am not going to come after him or do a vengeful hatefic about him where it's not actually him but it technically is him and I am not going to vilify him. It's just...dude, it's comedy. If you can't take a joke, maybe you shouldn't be here.
It bothers me there are some people that are easily offended/triggered by things that aren't even made to offend, it just means we're surrounded by a generation of easily triggered cowards who can't take a joke. And to those people, please grow up and learn to accept that not everyone's senses of humor are the same. I don't care if you think I said something that offended you, yes...I mistake somethings people say for something that clearly wasn't what it actually was but you don't need to whine about it, grow a fucking spine.
Now they're not going to get rid of the character, it's just Hank Azaria is considering not voicing him anymore. Aaaaaw, that' sad. I do like how Azaria voices the character and I feel Apu isn't a stereotype by any means. This and the removal of the episode 'Stark Raving Dad' because of the Michael Jackson 'documentary' were both very upsetting to me.
