WB Reviews: 1941.

Werebelushi: Since I have been digging into Aykroyd's filmography and it has come to me as a shock that I haven't tackled this one yet...i'm going to make up for it now. 1941 is a movie that upon release was hated but now has a fanbase of its own including fans on numerous websites. Now Steven Spielberg is a name you people should all be familar with since he has directed a lot of movies people consider to be masterpieces, but before the likes of E.T and Jurassic Park there was this underrated gem. There are so many things going on with the characters in this movie...the movie begins with a parody of Jaws with a poor woman swimming only to run into a submarine full of Japanese sailors. The Japanese sailors want to invade Hollywood or as they pronounce it 'Hollis Wood', well...at least they're not trying to brainwash people in song form...*singing* Yvan Eth Nioj! Sorry. I couldn't help but reference that Simpsons episode. Each character has their own...

WB Rant-ish: NBC Grinch Musical.

Werebelushi: So NBC just released a sneak-peak of the new Grinch musical they'll be showing next month and well i'm not exactly impressed with the new Grinch design. This new Grinch looks more yeti or Geico Caveman than Grnch-like to me, either that or they're going for the Big Wolf On Campus look. In case you're wondering I am a huge fan of the Jim Carrey Grinch, mainly because it's a really cool design and like the character jumped out of the book. At least this is better than the 2019 Cats movie, but still...it bothers me that he's not very Grinch-like design-wise. I kmow the musical version of the Grinch differs than the live-action film or the Chuck Jones short film or the book depiction (especially since the book's Grinch is black and white with red eyes) but still, this is basically just a green version of the Hugh Jackman version of Wolverine. It's like if someone decided to depict Leatherface as looking like a GQ model wth a slightly croo...

WB Rants: Apu Controversy.

Werebelushi: I may have addressed this already but the Apu controversy...I love the character and personally I think whoever did that documentary got too offended at the fact people were quoting that character at his stand-up shows, out of all the characters to complain about why Apu specifically? These people don't get there is more to him than an accent and his nationality. Apu is not a stereotype, this is basically like the Mr Popo or Jynx controversy all over again. From what i've heard, actual Hindus do like Apu and find the character in general to be inoffensive and funny, some people are just overly sensitive and can't take a joke. I mean if someone I knew created a character who has a crush on an undead character and if I made a comment suggesting...'Can't you ever get a date with someone who has a pulse?' I would explain before-hand that it's not a serious response and that's a joke because I know I would be offending them if I called that p...

Cursed In A Good Way.

Image
Cursed...But In A Good Way. Britney Spears to Dan Aykroyd FTM TG/Were-Aykroyd theme. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was a normal thing for Britney to get fan-mail from her beloved fans and admirers, but it wasn't normal for some of those to be supernatural...one night when she was sorting out fan-mail she came across something which alarmed her...it appeared to be some kind of ring with a crystaline skull on it...'maybe one of my fans sent me this because they know I have a dark edge to me.' s what she thought as she picked up the ring and examined it and as she did, she noticed the skull's eyes glowing. 'Oooh, that's a pretty clever effect.' She examined it for a few more seconds before adjusting it and putting on her finger, but as she did she began to notice that it was giving off an unearthly glow as was the moon that was up in the sky. 'Ms Spears...are you okay?' 'I'm alright, I think, but I think something might be wrong.' "Did you ea...

WB Reviews: Dragnet

Werebelushi: Ah, it feels good to do another Aykroyd-Mania review. And what a perfect movie of his to talk about...now the whole adapting a television show into a movie trend is one a lot of viewers are familiar with considering in the 90's we've had adaptations of The Brady Bunch, The Addams Family, Mcnales's Navy, and Little Rascals among others including The Flintstones not to mention the numerous Scooby Doo movies including the two live-action ones in the 2000's, but this trend even dates back to the 80's. And this is one of them, Dragnet of course being a very iconic detective show from 1967 with Jack Webb as the legendary Joe Friday, this is the movie adaptation of that iconic show. Our story revolves around Joe Friday who is actually the nephew of the OG Joe and is played by Dan Aykroyd, again...this role was differently tailor made for Aykroyd, Aykroyd himself is a major crime and law and order buff IRL and is an actual police officer and he collects...

WB Reviews: My Girl.

Werebelushi: Welcome back to Aykroyd-Mania. A word of warning for those who haven't seen this movie, this movie will pull at your heart-strings and won't let go. This movie will teach you about life and death, if you cannot cope with loss you might possibly break down in tears after watching this, this is 1991's My Girl. This movie is about a young girl named Vada who is coping with the loss of her mother and her father Harry Sultenfuss (Dan Aykroyd) works at a funeral so basically...she is used to death and is pretty much obsessed with it, but there's more to this movie than just 'Oh Dan Aykroyd's wife died' although this is the second Aykroyd related project i've seen in which his on-screen wife passed on (the first is My Stepmother Is An Alien followed by the shortlived sitcom Soul Man). But then again death seems to be a recurring theme with Aykroyd. Luckily though Harry manages to find himself the woman of his dreams in the form of the free spirited...
