The Temporary Move To The Airbnb

NOTE: This is part of the August 27th to September 3rd Peanut sleepover mini-series and also the start of the Airbnb mini-series.

----------------------------------

Everyone’s favorite duo known as Corey and Oats went on adventures with all their friends and that included Piff and Peanut who was his sibling from another mom and a very good friend of his and sometimes adventures can be scary and different but different doesn’t always mean ‘bad’,   it’s just Mel was a bit nervous about some adventures and sometimes she felt like she couldn’t do something not that she didn’t want to do it.

You may remember that in the Wednesday the 27th adventure that Rachel took the gang to Milford Mall to treat them while also telling them about the plans to complete fixing up the bathrooom, and initially Mel was okay with it but she became more worried about what would happen to her…she was told she and the others would be going to an Airbnb to stay until Friday and that it was quite a nice place,  but she was worried she wouldn’t be able to do her favorite usual things there.

But one thing she knew for sure was that it was likely going to be ‘better than Belmont’,  now Mel didn’t actually hate Belmont that much,  she knew people in Belmont had their own quirks and personalities but most of the time that she and the others had been there it was either a meeting or the Christmas party, and last time that she had to spend time there,  it was pretty tiring for her.  Due to her own mistakes, the last Monday of which that happened was nearly ruined because well she had forgotten the lifeforce charger that gave Hyacinth her energy and she had fallen so much into boredom (due to also forgetting a coloring book) that she very much thought she was going to die, and other times she had been she felt either like she was going to get sick or it was because she was injured.  And the aforementioned time was one in which she got so bored and tired from it she very much refused to do a story about it but instead asked Piff to tell one from his perspective instead.

She often did hear some staff saying how disturbingly quiet Belmont was, and that didn’t exactly help her judgement of that particular place,  she acknowledged they existed plenty but never actually spoke to them and just kept to her own devices.

Heck,  the Christmas party special last year which was supposed to be Piff’s grand debut as an actor in videos was a flop because everyone just wanted the same generic Christmas party staples like the food and the same Top 100 Christmas songs on repeat, and well Mel knew that she likely was not going to have fun, she didn’t even sing or dance at that party,  the only ones who had any fun were Piff and Tangie.

Mel very much knew that Christmas was considered a ‘nightmare’ for people working in retail and not just because they had to work extra hard to make sure the most popular toys or gadgets didn’t complete sell out during the holidays but also because well it can be very jarring to go into Spotlight during late October or in November and all of a sudden you hear Mariah Carey belting out very much the only song she seems to get known for i.e ‘All I Want For Christmas’, (not that Mariah hasn’t got other good songs, it’s just for some reason, it’s the only Mariah song that gets repeated airplay on almost every radio station that plays pop music),  and it didn’t help that Mariah very promoted this song of hers every single November 1 with an elaborate ‘It’s time’ sequence.   If anything Mel loved halloween more than Christmas,  halloween at least had more variety in terms of songs and it didn’t have the most limited roster when it came to television specials or movies.  Christmas almost always did seem to have the most limited roster when it came to specials apart from the regular staple of classics a lot of ‘Christmas special’ episodes seemed to very much just have the same plot and borrow either from Rudolph: The Red Nose Reindeer,  A Christmas Carol,  or It’s A Wonderful Life,  while halloween had more original specials and it was more than just ‘Monster Mash’  or ‘Thriller’ or ‘Calling All The Monsters’.

On the morning of August 31st 2026,  the gang woke up to a shocking surprise as Mel had woken up later than usual despite the gang all having gone to bed a bit earlier the previous night and Mel was not exactly in the best mood,  she was still a bit worried and still panicking, but Buddy the Build A Bear unicorn sang the ‘Scared to Be Brave’ song to cheer her up.

They all got up and had breakfast together before Mel had a shower and this was followed by the decision of where to go, and this lead to several choices but they all settled on going to Glenfield Mall before they began to pack up an hour later,  which in itself proved to be a problem because Mel initially could not find the special pouch that came with Hyacinth, this was followed by the problem of picking who was going to go with her and the gang.

Ozzy the werewolf wanted to come and was all set to come with them but a change in plans happened,  Buddy the build a bear unicorn also had to stay behind too and Anglo knew he likely wasn’t going to be invited to come along as well.   Mel assured them she and the gang would be back on Friday and that they wouldn’t have to worry,  so after some packing up, the gang all got in the van and headed off to Glenfield Mall.

When the van arrived at Glenfield Mall the gang all entered the elevator and walked out of it and looked around in the mall before they all headed to the food court,  knowing that they were going to have an early lunch - she braced herself, she couldn’t seem to make up her mind on what she wanted to have, and so she and the gang were rushed into having KFC,  which wasn’t bad,  but she felt like she was forced to choose that.

After the gang had their early lunch they had a drink before looking around, Mel and the gang decided to go into Build A Bear, not to pick a new friend (yet) but to look around, they looked around and they saw a bunch of bags that you could put your  ‘friend’ in, and after asking if she could buy one,  Mel and the gang bought one,  a Sanrio bag to go with Hangyodon, and they all smiled as they headed out.

They didn’t have much time to explore due to it being on a tight schedule and they found themselves going back on the elevator and all the way back to the carpark before hopping back in the van.

Mel felt that it was only going to get a bit more chaotic from then on as the van drove all the way to their ‘temporary’ for the week home which was in Campbell’s Bay,  and she felt a little bit worried as they all arrived an hour later.  When they arrived at their new home they all got up and looked around, Peanut jumped out and greeted Piff, hugging him in the process.

Piff looked around at the new home,  while Mel was a bit hesitant about it she admitted that it looked very nice, and she brightened up when she saw that she had her own bathroom and her own shower so she wouldn’t have to wait for hours unlike in the Nile Road house, where it was almost always a constant race to get to the shower first just in case Natasha decided to indulge her water hyperfixation.  Mel did still feel a bit afraid, because she needed a nightlight and her radio but luckily she had some help.

She had some help though in the form of Rachel giving her a light and Louisa bringing in the radio and she found herself having a more relaxed time throughout the afternoon, as they had afternoon tea and played games, they had some delicious food for dinner and before dinner Mel got a call from Jill asking about how the temporary is -  Mel said that while she was nervous it was alright and definitely she could get used to it.  She kindly asked the staff to tone down their talking so that she could listen to her.

Piff and Tangie raced upstairs and they saw a bathtub which made Piff soooo happy,  both of them then floated downstairs as Mel emailed Jill about their adventure and explained that she really did not think it was so bad after all,  she liked it.  They played games for a couple of hours as Piff, Tangie, Hangyodon and Peanut went fishing and caught a lot of fish.

Which was followed by a relaxation time together and favorite activities like bathbomb sniffing, imagination sessions,  ASMR sessions, and ‘Guess the Bathbomb Scent’ as Corey put on his bat pajamas and Oats put on his pink nightgown as they all brushed their teeth in their new temporary bathroom that was just next door to the bedroom they’d be sleeping in.

Piff activated the closedown sequence featuring the fish couple, Hangyodon, and a pufferfish resembling Peanut exploring a brand new coral reef home as the background shifted from day to night as the goodnight message appeared on screen.  He floated into bed with the others and kissed Tangie and hugged Hangyodon and Peanut before giving the goodnight speech which was: ‘Sometimes trying a new thing can be scary especially if you think that you will not enjoy it, but you may never know, sometimes it can be more fun than you thought it was. And that was what we all learned today.  I like this new place, sure, it may not be exactly what I was imagining in my head but sometimes it’s good to play along even if you do not like it at first.  And now it is time to go to sleep, goodnight everyone.’

Piff got out of bed and turned off the light before they all drifted off to sleep and had sweet dreams, meanwhile back at Nile Road - in Mel’s bedroom, Anglo the anglerfish was feeling very confused.  ‘Where has everyone gone? Don’t tell me Piff, Tangie, Mel and the others are already gone. Oh shoot, now who I am supposed to help by turning off the lights?’  ‘I can help.’ said Ellis the eel.  ‘Oh you can?’  ‘Yeah. We can do it together.’

Ellis and Anglo turned off the lights of the bedroom and all the friends in there drifted off to sleep and dreamed of what possible adventures the gang would go on next,  and back at the Campbell’s Bay Airbnb home while Piff did think it was odd to have a goodnight section of an adventure without Anglo’s signature turning off the lights,  since he probably knew that Anglo would have felt confused about where everyone had disappeared too,  but he knew Anglo would have no issues doing the turning off the lights with the others that had been left behind.

And thus their adventure had come to an end but more are coming up soon, so please stay tuned for more.
