NOTE: This episode is basically one that explores the rivalry between Melanie Sanders and Otho Fenlock and also includes a few homages/jokes that are references or homages, for instance the line ‘hello giant ghost who looks like Glenn Shadix’ is a reference to The Amazing Live Sea-Monkeys halloween episode (the Elvis ghost).

It’s not always easy when you start out as a magic user or when you dabble in magic or try things that need a lot of practice, Melanie ‘Mel’ Sanders was a koala-girl sorceress who was trying to do her job in the Monster World’s local law enforcement department but there were always troubles and obstacles, one such obstacle was her rivalry with Otho Fenlock. ‘Seriously what is Otho’s problem?’ ‘He’s cocky and he’s always wrong.’ ‘He’s been right on occasion.’ ‘Only because he has psychic powers.’ ‘You have powers too, don’t you?’ ‘Yes, but he doesn’t believe that I have actual supernatural powers.’

“He doesn’t...well that’s just hypocritical.”

‘Just more proof of how hypocritical he is. He called my Elvira cosplay outfit a Transylvania burlesque dancer outfit, when he was the one dressed like a flamboyant hybrid of John Belushi and a Japanese yokai.’ ‘You two fight so much.’ ‘You don’t know the half of it.’ Eucalyptus chuckled, it did indeed amuse her to see Mel and the interior designer fighting like arch-enemies in a sitcom, she especially found it hilarious when Mel said Otho resembled a couch. ‘It’s true he does look like a couch.’

“Maybe we could do something.”

‘Like what? He isn’t scared of anything I throw at him. I even tried turning him into a grotesque worm-creature and he didn’t even scream. The only thing that scares him is tiny closet-space and out of style outfits.’ ‘Maybe there’s a spell in your book of spells that can scare him. Maybe you can make a horror house of fashion boo-boos.’ ‘A fashion horror house?’ ‘Yeah. All the worst fashion outfits imaginable.’

“Let’s see if there’s a spell like that in the book.”

“There better be.”

Mel and Eucalyptus got out the book of spells that she kept in her room, looking around for a spell to create a horror house based on the ‘worst fears of your enemies’. ‘Let’s see, there’s a spell that causes you to look like Baron Harkonnen from David Lynch’s Dune, a spell that makes you look like a mix of Jabba and Oogie Boogie, a spell that gives you teeth akin to a piranha-monster…’ ‘What about the Muppet spell?’ ‘That one just gives you a Muppet form or makes you into a version of a Muppet character.’

“What is the spell that turns clothing into a living clothing monster?”

“You mean the clothing golem spell?”

‘Yeah…’ ‘How about we summon Betelgeuse again?’ ‘You know what it says in the rulebook.’ ‘Yeah yeah, never use the book to summon him. He’s more trouble than he’s worth.’ ‘How about just this once?’ ‘Oh alright.’ Mel got out the book and began to look for the incantation to summon the ghost with the most, however when she found the page with the incantation, the incantation had a smear on it, luckily she didn’t exactly say it.

“Phew that was close…”

“Yeah, you almost said the incantation.”

Mel gave a sigh of relief but her relief was short lived once a spirit emerged from the pages and took on a physical form, that physical form being the late Glenn Shadix resembling a mix of how he looked circa early 2000s and how he looked as Otho. ‘Well goodbye chances of getting chances at Otho, goodbye chances of meeting Beetlejuice.’ ‘And hello giant ghost that looks like Glenn Shadix.’

“Giant ghost that looks like Glenn Shadix?”

“Hello, Miss Mel, and Miss Eucalyptus.”

“Glenn?”

“That’s my name, don't wear it out.”

‘We didn’t mean to summon you Mr Shadix, or Glenn. It’s just we were trying to summon Beetlejuice because Mel wanted to get back at Otho but now...well you know.’ ‘Apologies accepted. But even if you didn’t mean to summon me...you must have brought me for a purpose.’ ‘Now Glenn, don’t get existential on me.’ ‘Sorry Miss Mel. Usually when i’m summoned it’s for a purpose. And clearly you have a purpose for me.’

“It’s just that I wanted to get back at, you know..get revenge on Otho for making fun of my halloween costume.”

“Ah, you dislike Otho.”

“Yeah...how come you’re such a nice man yet Otho is the complete opposite of you?”

“It’s funny how that often turns out.”

‘I wouldn’t say you and him are totally different though, I mean you have the same appearance and voice and you do call him your twin sometimes.’ ‘I know, but he can be difficult to agree with sometimes.’ ‘So what can you do?’ ‘Well I can possess people and do ghostly tricks.’

“As long as you don’t harm anyone.”

“I’d never harm anyone..is it okay to give you a demonstration?”

‘Okay...but be careful.’ ‘I’ll try my best…’ Mel shrugged, she was reluctant to do this but she had gotten used to being possessed and well this wasn’t anything new to her, but she was a little bit worried. ‘Don’t you think your friend Serena would be mad that you’re going to possess me and all?’ ‘I told her that this might happen beforehand so you don’t need to worry.’ She was reluctant but if that meant helping Glenn out, she sighed as she let him enter her mouth and go down her stomach, possessing her. ‘Well..this doesn’t seem so bad.’

“How does it feel, Mel?”

“Eukie, this feels weird. I know i’ve been possessed before but…”

“But what?”

‘But well...how do I say this? It feels more than a little bit bizarre if you ask me.’ Mel responded, gasping a little as she heard her own voice deepening to a more masculine baritone and sounding a little bit like Glenn’s voice. ‘Mel..is it me or do you sound like Glenn?’ ‘I know how this goes, and well...oh my dark lord, I DO sound like him!’ The koala-girl was in a bit of a shock, hearing a voice that sounded like Glenn’s voice coming out of her mouth, it made her gasp at what she had heard.

The koala-girl’s voice returned to normal, she gave a sigh of relief...it was more than a little shocking to hear Glenn Shadix’s signature voice coming out of her mouth, and was a beyond unusual contrast to her sweet, feminine koala-girl appearance. ‘Hey..that was uncalled for.’ ‘I’m sorry Miss Mel but I just find it funny to have a female character talk in my voice. Call me weird but I think it’s hilarious.’ ‘For you maybe, but for me...yeah it’s strange.’ She chuckled but then she coughed. Her stomach gurgled as it slowly broadened and grew, her chest and torso following in the process..making it look like she had gained weight.

“Oh that’s just great. I look like I ate a whole house.”

“Now now, don’t you worry Miss Mel.”

‘Glenn..this isn’t a good idea.’ ‘I’m not going to completely make you me or anything, you’ll still be you, you’ll just look and sound/talk like me. You can still be a koala-person obviously, it’s just outwardly and vocally you’ll be me.’ ‘So I won’t experience any mental changes?’ ‘You may tend to act sassier than normal and adapt some of my mannerisms but you’re not going to completely act like I am, you’ll still have koala-like traits’ ‘Wait, how do you know i’m an anthro koala?’ ‘Well you’re a skilled climber and of course those extra thumbs. And that eucalyptus oil scent you have which smells like cough drops.’

“For a ghost, you sure do make a lot of sassy comments.”

“That’s my speciality.”

Mel gasped as her hands slowly enlarged and changed shape, her fingers thickened but she retained her claw-like fingernails which her species was known for having along with the extra thumbs. She didn’t lose her fur, it just transitioned into skin but there were some patches of it left on her chest and arms that matched her hair color, while some matched her fur. In addition to this her breasts retracted into her chest as her whole body in general seemed a bit on the pudgier side as her patterned blue top and jeans slowly stretched to fit but also changed into a completely much darker shade. The design on the back was a hybrid of the insignia that she usually sported (the koala-ears and masquerade mask) and a gothic striped pattern.

She panicked but then she remembered to remain calm, and she always did like wearing stripes..hence why she sometimes enjoyed her ‘tiger eyes’. Tiger eyes of course being when she’d make her eyes resemble those of a feline, specifically a tigress, she always did love the Thriller video and the transformation into a werecat. She loved freaking out guys who tried to hit on her by reinacting that specific transformation scene with her transformation into the werekoala persona of hers. ‘Mel, are you alright?’ ‘I’m alright...okay i’m not alright, look at me.’ ‘I know I know this isn’t quite what you’re used to but…’

“But nothing, look at me.”

“I’m sure it’s not that bad.”

The koala-girl panicked as her rear lost some of its curviness but rounded out a bit more but she did keep her tail, her privates however altered into the more masculine variant as her back and shoulders broadened. Her hair remained in the same color as it normally was but it darkened as her neckline altered and she grew to 5’10 as her feet enlarged. Her ears shrank in size but did remain half koala-like while also being humanoid as her brow altered and her eyebrows thickened a little bit. In addition to this her nose did grow a little bit but had the same black coloration on it as her face slowly plumped up, Her features slowly altered and contorted themselves as her eyes turned a blue-ish green, and her features altered a bit more, becoming a lot like Glenn’s.

Without even looking in the mirror she could see that she looked like Glenn Shadix himself, specifically a hybrid of how he looked as Otho in Beetlejuice and when he lost weight, and while she did feel a bit uneasy about looking like him, she didn’t mind it and she did admire him and made it her goal to help out the spirit versions of deceased celebrities, as she did with her very own spirit guide Robin Williams.

“Mel...you look like..”

“Yes I know, I look like I could be Otho’s brother.”

‘How did you know that I was going to say that you look like Glenn Shadix?’ ‘I guess I just did.’ ‘Well this is unusual, you look like Glenn if Glenn was half-marsupial. Has your sexuality changed as well?’ ‘Even as Glenn i’m probably still bisexual, good thing I already have a boyfriend.’ ‘How would Lithius react to seeing you as Glenn though?’ ‘I don’t know, I imagine he’d be shocked.’

“And how are you doing that?”

“Doing what?”

“That thing where your voice deepens and you sound just like Glenn.”

‘Huh? Not again...damn it.’ Mel murmured as her voice deepened again, contorting and altering to match her appearance, becoming a masculine/robust baritone with a Southern flavor to it and also deepening a bit more until she sounded completely like Glenn himself. The koala-girl blushed, hearing his voice come out of her mouth. She examined herself as the transformation finalized, rather than being completely like Glenn she had bits of his personality but wasn’t completely like him, she was still bisexual but she was a bit sassier than normal as the result of him possessing her.

“Is that you in there, Mel?”

“I think so.”

“So has your sexuality changed?”

“Nah, still bisexual.”

‘It must be kind of unusual for you to be Glenn while still being you.’ ‘Yeah..’ ‘Do you think Tim knows about this kind of thing?’ ‘Oh yes, he definitely does.’ ‘We should tell Tim.’ ‘Do you think he knows that his best friend can do this to people?’ ‘He does.’ ‘Thank goodness. Remind me to call Serena later.’ ‘Do you think she’d recognize me?’ ‘I think she will. At least since you have parts of your personality in there.’ ‘True.’ ‘And you’re basically like how Baron Harkonnen is in the Dune novel.’

“That’s true, minus the more disgusting aspects of his personality that is.”

Mel chuckled to her or rather ‘himself’ as he examined himself for a bit, she had to admit that being Glenn while also being herself felt like she or ‘he’ was playing two roles at once, But she/he didn’t mind, as he picked up the phone. ‘Excuse me for a second. Hi, Lithius..it’s me, Mel. Something happened earlier today and I won’t be able to make it in time, oh..if you’re wondering about my voice, i’ve got a bit of a throat problem and need a bit of time to rest in order to heal. Don’t be alarmed.’ ‘So I assume you’ve got this covered.’ ‘Yep.’

“Alright then.”

“So shall we contact Serena?”

“Sure…”

And thus with that the duo used their psychic powers to contact Serena and to tell her about what happened, As for what happened later, the two of them worked on a plan, luckily though nobody else found out what had happened. Mel pretty much still acted like herself even as Glenn, it’s just as a side-effect she was a bit sassier than normal.
