Corey and Oats’s Big Underwater Adventure.

Our adventure loving duo had been together since 2021 and the duo had been on all sorts of adventures, if you are familiar with the stories you’d know they’ve been to the Hollywood Fish store, Retrospace,  The Baby factory, the park, weta workshop, one tree hill and even to the mall on occasions and the zoo and Butterfly Creek. While a lot of those adventures were huge and some very fascinating and fantastical,  there was only one that they were looking forward to seeing above all of,  the big adventure they had been teasing at the end of every adventure since the Weta Workshop Unleashed adventure.  And today was the day that adventure was finally going to happen…their koala-girl friend Mel had arranged to take the duo to Auckland’s most iconic aquarium Kelly Tarlton’s to see some fishy friends, the duo woke up at 7 30 in the morning and went into the computer room to get ready, all of their friends were in the green bag ready to be sent to the house on Nile Road, Celiac got out of the bag to have some gluten free pancakes.  ‘You guys are going to need some of these.’  He said as he handed some pancakes to the duo.

Corey and Oats ate the gluten free pancakes and shared some with Celiac,  Celiac smiled as he had two helpings of pancakes and shared some with the duo. The duo then got ready..Oats rummaged through his outfits to find ones that were fitting for the destination…’Should I pack my swim suit with the pink seahorse pattern on it?’ ‘Oatsie, we’re going to an aquarium, not the beach. Besides, it’s winter here.’  ‘Right…not swim suit weather.’  Oats chuckled as he put on his warm pink dress and leggings and boots, as Corey put on his adventurer gear. 

“Oats, this is the adventure we’ve been teasing the entire time.”

“You mean?”

“Yes…we’re going to Kelly Tarlton’s!”

“Yaaaaaay! I hear there are all sorts of fish. This is going to be awesome.”

“Absolutely.”

“I can’t believe it.”

‘Yeah…’  ‘I do have a question though.’  ‘Yes, Oatsie.’  ‘Is this going to be like those ABC Disneyworld specials that Tony Goldman talked about on his web show where only half of the episode is dedicated to them at the parks?’ ‘Oh no, this is definitely going to be a lot better.’  ‘Yaaay.’   Mel put on her shoes and turned shut down her laptop as the duo helped her wait.

‘If you’re going on a fantastic underwater adventure you are going to need our help.’  ‘Exactly.’  Two anthro seahorses floated over to the duo, a pink male seahorse named Majestic and his friend a female blue seahorse named Trident. The seahorses really had been planning this because they always wanted to see their cousins.

The magical floating van arrived at their door at 10 as the duo packed everything up, the other microbes were all packed up in the green bag along with the other belongings. Corey and Oats hopped onto the floating van and buckled up as the floating van levitated and took off, the duo were super excited to explore it.  The van traversed through the city up until they arrived at Mission Bay and at their location,  Kelly Tarlton’s.  

Upon arriving at Kelly Tarlton’s, Corey and Oats took their seatbelts and  readied themselves as they got out of the van and followed Mel, upon going over to the entrance they noticed a series of footprints all over the ground, footprints that looked like those of a bird.  ‘Corey, what do you make of this?’  ‘Well Oatsie i’d say we’re about to enter penguin country, look at those footprints, those are penguin feet.’  ‘Ah yeah,  this country is known for its penguins.’  The duo reached the entrance and the doors opened, upon going through the entrance, they got their tickets and began their journey.

Their journey began in Scott’s Hut, a zone that was made to look like the cabin of explorer Captain Scott, with authentic British flags and inventions of the decade there, as they went through there they developed a couple of wintery/arctic forms as Oats developed pieces of warm fluff around his hooves and on his neck to keep him warm, while Corey became a fluffy arctic version of himself, and the duo floated around and enjoyed the performances of the penguins, watching the Gentoo penguins and King penguins frolic around.

“Want to try the polar plunge challenge?”

“That sounds like fun…”

Oats put his left hoof in the box full of icy water and kept it there…’Remember, Oats..don’t let the cold and fear get to you.’  ‘I must not fear. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my face.  I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone I will turn my inner eye to face the path.’   Oats chanted to himself as he held his hoof in the icy water, holding it in for 30 seconds and then pulling it out.  ‘Yes…I did it.’  ‘You’re so brave, Oatsie.’   

Corey waved to some of the penguins, and sighed when he saw a cute lesbian penguin couple looking after a fostered penguin chick. ‘You two ladies are the best mothers ever.’ ‘Aaaaw, thank you, that means a lot to us.’  He observed the Gentoo penguins picking up pebbles and giving them to eachother…’Hey, that’s just like the Don Bluth movie.’    

The King penguin tribe invited Corey and Oats to take part in a dancing competition with them, and the duo accepted the invitation and danced along together. Oats did some tap-dancing moves that were inspired by penguins and Corey waved his arms in the air, they then hopped on board the ‘snow-cat’ and whizzed across the snow and ice.

After they had finished there, they had their own go at making gifts for each-other as they headed into the NWA Southern Oceans section, where they were taken to a special watery disco area with an area where they could see Jellyfish and King Crabs at work, and as they did…they developed half aquatic traits as they mimicked the movement of the jellyfish, they danced together. They exited the NWA Southern Oceans area to enter a fish gallery where they saw all kinds of fish including clownfish, blue tangs, the hiwihiwi,lionfish, cichlids, clown triggerfishes, mandarin fish, and numerous others including discovering a stonefish, they spotted a sea turtle in one of the exhibits and waved to him.

The duo found themselves become half fish-like versions of themselves, with Corey taking on similar traits to a Pufferfish and Oats becoming half seahorse. They participated in a funky fishy dance number before heading out and going to the restaurant for lunch, they both had pizza and some lovely apple juice.  Before that though, they headed to the amazing creations division and Corey colored in a picture of a starfish which came to life on a big screen, numerous animated fish and seacreatures came to life as they performed a song number.

After that and after lunch Corey and Oats made their way to the seahorse kingdom as Majestic and Trident guided them in.  ‘This is the kingdom of the seahorse, the most majestic of all sea creatures.’  ‘I guess that’s why they call you Majestic, huh, Majestic?’ Trident chuckled as she teased her best friend.  ‘Well yes, although given how awkward my life is…Awkwardicus seems more like a better name than Majestic.’  ‘Oh you, silly seahorse.’  

Majestic sighed as he swam along and he showed the duo the sea-dragon exhibit and the exhibit with the big belly seahorse. ‘This, my friends, is the big bellied seahorse. You can tell that this one is a boy because of his larger belly because he is pregnant.’  ‘Aaaaaw, he’s going to be a dad.’  ‘Yes, it is very awkward.’ ‘What do you mean by awkward?  You’re a boy seahorse…and like it or not, that will happen to you one day.’

“Aaaaw come on Trident, don’t you be starting with this.”

“Aaaaaaw, is Majestic embarrassed to be a male seahorse?”

“Yes, I am. You know how awkward it is to be a boy seahorse and to be a seahorse in general.”

“You know, it’s a seahorse thing. I’ m seahorse, you’re a seahorse..’  ‘You know how I hate being a boy seahorse who has to deal with the likelihood of becoming a parent.’  Majestic sighed, having to listen to Trident teasing him about having babies made him feel embarrassed to be a male seahorse.  He murmured to himself as he sang a sad tune to himself. ‘My life is awkward, so very awkward, under the sea. I have fins and a tail, at swimming I fail, under the sea. I give birth to babies and i’m a male, under the sea’ is what he sang, a sad awkward seahorse version of the song Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid.  ‘Aaaaw, don’t be sad.’ ‘Why shouldn’t I? Trident is supposed to be my friend yet she teases me about being a future dad all the time. I know i’ m a seahorse, I live under the sea. Male seahorses have babies. But my daddy sea-horsie didn’t agree to being a daddy. Mommy made him do it.’

He sobbed as he swam around, educating the duo about seahorses as Oats swam with a royal seahorse family and he saw a Webkinz Splash Dragon and Lil Kinz seahorse.  Majestic lightened up and cheered up as he told them a seahorse and seadragon story that made them really happy, Oats swam around and found himself becoming friends with a pretty seahorse-girl princess who lived in a watery palace.  Upon leaving the seahorse kingdom, they entered the shark tunnel and they saw the school sharks and nurse sharks swimming along and also discovered the wobbegong shark playing a game of hide and seek, they even saw some stingrays swimming above them.

The stingrays swam around majestically, as the duo used their new fishy forms to help them, after that they made their way to the fish gallery to swim along with the fishes and learned made new facts about fish as they learned about the numerous unique patterns that each species had and even developed some unique patterns on their bodies.  After that they headed to the lobster, crab and eel section where they ran into several famous faces. ‘Hey look, there’s that eel from the park. That longfin eel. Hello Mr and Mrs Eel!’ Corey then looked over at a group of hermit crabs.

“Those crabs definitely don’t look like they’ve been experimented on.”

“How do you know about crab experiments?”

“I’ve seen Agatha Vile do it all the time..”

Corey and Oats mimicked the movements of the crabs and did their own funky crab dance, after that the duo watched some moral eels and longfin eels swimming around, before heading to into another exhibit in which they saw a tuatara just like their friend Issac,  they took a look in the Shipwreck Shores section which had a fun playground for the two of them to play around, as numerous equine webkinz were also there who were fans of Oats.  They also spotted a clever octopus and some interesting sea animal webkinz friends.

Oats put his hoof in a rockpool and he found himself a starfish, he also helped take care of a turtle and he had a lot of fun exploring the area, and also they had a bit of a waterplay session, after all the fun though, they decided to head to the gift shop.  They encountered a group of cute penguin chicks of different types, and then came across a seahorse that was blue and resembled Oats. ‘Look Oatsie, this seahorse looks like you.’  ‘He certainly does look beautiful.’ ‘Adopt me please, oh please please adopt me.’  The seahorse begged.

“Oh I wish we could, but we have to wait.”

“Why?”

“Because mommy says that we’ll need some more money.”

The seahorse cried but then he swam over to Oatsie and hugged him, and thus with that the duo caught back up with Mel as they returned to normal before a sea turtle waved to them and the group headed back to the floating van.  The seahorse knew that Oats and Corey would come back for him and that made him happy, the duo buckled themselves up as the van took off and headed for home.

A couple of hours later, the van arrived at Nile Road and the duo and Mel jumped out of the van, Corey and Oats were the first to jump out and then they arranged which microbes would be staying with them on the table and which ones would be sleeping. The seahorse duo of Majestic and Trident snuggled up in the second bedbox.  That afternoon they all had a wonderful time, and they celebrated all afternoon and all night, when night came, they sent a message at 7pm and then went to the bedroom after 9, as they snuggled up and hugged each-other and dreamed of their aquatic adventure and many more adventures to come.

And if you think that is the end of this tale, it is…but it is not the end of their adventures though, as there are much more coming up.  And a lot more fun awaits the duo, stay tuned.
