Stallone rant
Welcome to the first of my series of Nathan's rants, i'm Nathan and this is my rant.
Ah Sylvester Stallone, a true legend in the world of movies specifically action movies. While he may not be as good as Arnie, he is still considered one of the best.
Yes i'm obssessed with him, I admit that. Hey I can't help it alright, it's Nostalgia Critic, Spoony and Film Brain's faults.
Anyways, no matter what movie he is put in he always shines and manages to kick some serious ass.
He's also not afraid to try new things such as gaining 40lbs to play a portly ex cop in the movie Cop Land.
So i'm looking him up on the internet and I come across this little article which has mention of an interview.
In this interview Stallone says he's going to do a 'Rambo 5' if the Expendables 2 does well, which is fine and all but here's the real problem.
He says that he's going to have John J. Rambo get killed off in it. What the mother loving hell?
I thought he was DONE with Rambo, i'm not saying I hate Stallone or anything he's one of my favorite actors and a real badass. But Rambo 4 or John Rambo as it was called was the final Rambo movie, why did he say he wanted to carry it on?
And what is his reason for wanting to kill off Rambo in this planned fifth installment anyway? Is it because he thinks he's too old for the part. Bullspit. He's 65 years old, yes....but that doesn't stop him from kicking ass. Case in point Rocky Balboa.
Look...I already know he wanted Rocky to die in the original script for Rocky V and I KNOW that movie isn't very well recieved but still...I just do NOT think that having Rambo get killed off is a smart move at all.
I mean he doesn't give any specific reason as to why he wants it to happen or anything like that. So come ON Sly, YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS. Please tell me that you are joking.
That has to be one of the stupidest 'decisions' he's ever made since Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot and I actually WATCHED and ENJOYED that movie.
I don't mean this to insult Sly or his fans as I am huge obssessive fan of his, but I just think that killing Rambo off is a bad move.
Rambo's supposed to be the one doing the killing NOT the other way around. And speaking of foolish decisions in the past...
In 1992 there was supposed to be a movie with him and John Candy playing feuding neighbours and it was supposed to be titled Bartholomew Vs. Neff which was to be directed by John Hughes, but this movie never came to pass because of these main reasons.
1. John Candy's partnership with John Hughes had been broken up.
2. Carolco losing money in 1996.
3. Shelved after John Candy's death in 1994.
4. Stallone went on to do Cliffhanger.
Granted Cliffhanger was and always will be an epic action movie for the ages, such breathtaking scenery and the acting all around is superb.
But i'm puzzled as to how and why Bartholomew Vs. Neff never recieved the green light treatment.
It would have been amazing to see my two heroes Sly and the lovable J.C play opposite eachother. It would have been like Kenan And Kel, The Odd Couple, Drake and Josh, Abbott and Costello and all those other great double acts.
Also...I heard he turned down Romancing The Stone AND Beverly Hills Cop to make Rhinestone and we can all thank him for delivering that horrendous onslaught on to our poor innocent eardrums.
That cursed song Drinkenstein has been haunting me ever since I first heard it, seriously I've heard it in my dreams. Way to go Sly, thank you for singing that monstrous 'country' song - now it's permantely stuck in my brain and won't get out.
Anyway back to my Rambo rant. I personally think that killing Rambo off is not exactly the best way to go.
I'm not entirely familiar with the book that the movies are supposedly based on, but I have seen the movies.
In short...what is Sly thinking? I personally think he must be joking. If he actually DOES mean it, I hope he comes to his senses or changes his mind.
Sly, I love ya man...you're awesome, but please...don't kill Rambo off, he's a part of you, he's a part of all of us.
And that ends my rant.
