WB Rants: Furry Confusion.
Werebelushi:
I feel the need to point this out but...just because an animal character can talk and walk like a person doesn't make them anthro, or even 'furry'. I already pointed this out in a previous rant but how come some non-morphic animated animals can talk while others just make noises instead? I know why the Pocahontas animals are mute, it's because Disney was trying to be different. But why can the Brother Bear animals all talk in perfect English while when Queen Elinor is a bear she can only talk in bearish noises? She's a cursed human. I don't recall the spell the witch cast on her stripping away her ability to talk and speak like a human being, just turning her into a bear. I mean when Kuzco was turned into a llama, he was at least a talking llama and could speak to Pacha. When Naveen and Tiana were frogs, they could still speak to each-other. So how come Elinor can only growl when she's a bear? How come some non-morphic animal characters like Lion King characters can talk while others can only make animal sounds? Abu and Iago CAN both talk although they're both two-legged and in the case of Iago, he's naturally a very intelligent bird and parrots can mimic voices. But how come Rajah isn't granted the ability to speak?
Notice all of the Jungle Book characters are non-morphic animals that can talk and are mostly four-legged or in the case of Kaa, no legged. The only two-legged characters seem to be Baloo and the primates incuding human characters. Baloo is not a furry character except in Talespin. The Biker Mice are furry characters because they are anthropomorphic. Baloo and the Lion King characters aren't since they're non-morphic animals. Also what makes Baloo any different than Tug from Brother Bear, I mean they're both non-morphic talking bears, the only thing different is the species of bear they are and their voices. Also how come all of the other Brother Bear animals can talk too? Were they previously humans in a past life or were they previously humans like Kenai but got transformed?
Those characters aren't furry characters and neither are Lion King characters. I'll give a passion for Robin Hood since those characters technically are anthros, same with Zootopia and the main Disney cast excluding Pluto since he's a non-morphic dog. Non-morphic animal characters who can talk aren't 'furry' characters or anthro. And no, I don't know what Sulley would even classify as since much like the Beast, he's a mixture of different creatures when you think about it, he's technically still a mostly non-human species though since we don't see any human characters in the Monsters Inc universe except Boo. Because you know, humans are considered dangerous in that universe.
