Hessian Hex part 5

Following from what happened last time, me and Ariana had left the alchemist and headed back to the inn to go and think things through.

I was concerned for the both of us now, not just for myself but for her as well. I feared that this whole thing would get in the way of our friendship and I might end up turning against her in someway.

And at the rate things were going now, it would only be a matter of time until I would start turning.

"Ariana. I just want to thank you for supporting me through all this. I hope that you won't be too traumatized by this whole thing."

"No worries...i've seen much scarier things before, i'm pretty sure there is nothing that can scare me."

"Are you sure?"

"Yep. I am used to this kind of scary stuff."

"Oh well. I can certainly say you're a lot braver than my other friends are, normally about this time they would start freaking out over the fact i've been put under a spell/curse."

"Well i'm sure that we'll get through this A-Okay."

"Yeah...you're probably right."

I started freaking out a little, I felt more worried and tense than usual - knowing that it could probably happen at anytime.

"Nathan. Are you alright?"

"Ummmm.....yeah, why?"

"You've been acting strangely all night long, it's due to the spell that's been cast on you - it's slowly turning you into the Hessian."

"I know. And the scariest thing about it is - that I actually think I am starting to enjoy the process. I mean I can't fight these urges and instincts. They're too strong."

"No, Nathan, no! You must fight them. No matter how difficult it is, you have to fight them, you have to. You're not a killer and you wouldn't harm anyone."

"Maybe you're right. And maybe...."

"Maybe what?"

Before I could reply, I felt a wave of pain jolt through my body and I doubled over in pain - this wasn't going to be good in the slightest.

"Aaaaagh.....aaaaaaagh..."

"Nathan! Are you alright?"

"GET AWAY FROM ME!"

I snarled and as I did my eyes turned from brown to aquamarine blue as my clothes started turning black and my teeth started sharpening.

"No....Nathan...you must fight this."

"Aaaagh........Aaaaaagh! Oh god, this hurts. Oh good god it hurts!"

"Nathan...you must fight this, you must. Don't worry I can help you."

"Aaaaaaaaaaagh!"

"Come on Nathan, you can do this."

"You're right. I can!"

I calmed down for a second as my eyes returned to their normal colour as did my clothes and my teeth returned to normal.

"Phew! Good job, Nathan."

"Thanks...I think I got that under control...."

"Well that's good. For a second there, I was worried that you were going to turn and start going on a killing spree."

"Don't worry Ariana, I would never do that...remember what I told you earlier, no matter what happens we'll always be friends."

"Aaaw..come here."

She reached out to hug me but as she did, a cold chill ran through my spine as I sensed that something wasn't right.

Another wave of pain jolted through my body as shadows started creeping up behind me, causing me to double over again.

"Aaaaaagh....aaaagh!"

"Nathan.....what's wrong?"

"Run....get out of here, now...before it's too late!"

"No, i'm staying here with you."

"I think it will be better if you left."

"No. You're my friend and i'm going to help you get through this!"

"But I might end killing you."

"Nathan....you could never do that, you're the opposite of that Hessian - you're kind, you're heroic, you're sweet - you're not bloodthirsty or vicious."

"True....BUT THE ONLY ONE WHO'S STOPPING ME FROM A GOOD OLD FASHIONED KILLING SPREE IS YOU! LEAVE THIS PLACE AT ONCE! LEAVE!"

"Nathan...i'm scared."

"I'm sorry...it's just....Aaaagh...aaaagh...aaaaaaaagh!"

The shadows creeped up my body and slowly but surely my clothes turned black, as did my shoes - changing them to a pair of black boots.

The process was quite unpleasant and quite painful, Ariana wanted to leave but she knew that if she were to leave me alone - then it would only worsen.

"Nathan! Nathan! Come on, you can fight this...I can help you!"

"I'm afraid....I don't think there's anything you can...grrrr...do about it!"

The shadows slowly crept up on my hands making a pair of black gloves appear on them, my clothes were now looking more Hessian-like.

I was overcome by more pain and feelings of bloodlust as I grew slightly taller and the shadows appeared behind my back, forming a cape of sorts.

"Nathan...oh no. Come on Nathan...you can do this! I have faith in you..."

"Grrrrr....no, I can't. The urges, the bloodlust...the instincts! They're just too strong!"

"Come on. You can do this, we can do this."

"No....get out of here right now!"

My hair slowly spiked up and turned jet black, as my skin turned pale. I closed my eyes, but they opened up again as they turned from brown to aquamarine blue with a rather ghostly tint.

My eyebrows arched and turned black, becoming more menacing in the process. I couldn't help but let out a few growls and snarls as it happened.

"Nathan!"

"Grr...grrrr.....GET OUT OF HERE NOW!"

"No...i'm staying here with you."

Dark makeup appeared around my eyes as my lips turned a pale shade of pinkish. I growled in pain as the changes progressed further.

I felt a rather unusual stinging sensation in my mouth, and as I felt my teeth with my tongue - they started to sharpen and resembled vampiric fangs at first.

"Ariana...."

"Yes, Nathan?"

"There's something I just want to say to you before this process completes itself and grrrrrr...the Hessian...grrr...takes over."

"What is it?"

".....I.....I.....I......Want to say thanks...for being my...grrrrrrr..friend."

"No problem, Nathan."

"Now....there's something I want you to do for me.."

"What, Nathan?"

"Promise me...that...you'll....make sure that I, grrrr...don't end up...killing..anyone."

"I promise."

"Aaaagh....aaaaaaagh...thank you...now...grrr...get out of here!"

"I'm staying here with you. We can get through this...."

I growled in pain some more as my facial features morphed and reshaped themselves until they fully resembled the Hessian's features.

In addition to this my already vampiric teeth sharpened more until they now resembled the Hessian's teeth.

"Aaaaaagh......aaaaagh...aaaaagh. Grrrrrrrr....get out of here, before...."

"Nathan, i'm here for you. Don't worry...."

"I know...it's just...grrr...aaagh...aaagh...aaaah...aaah....."

I held my head in pain as the more vicious instincts and urges of the Hessian slowly took over me.

"Nathan....you've got to keep control."

"I'm trying...but I...grrrrrrr...can't, not anymore.....I.........I...."

"Nathan!"

My last words were cut short as my cries became a series of gutteral growls, snarls and roars - in other words, I now sounded more like the Hessian than I did my normal self.

My horrifying transformation was complete and I was now the Hessian, I turned to face Ariana.

"AAAAAAAH! RAAAAAAAAWR!"

"Nathan...I know it's you in there. Don't worry, I might be able to fix this."

"Grrr...."

"Just don't go killing anybody now."

"Raaawr?"

"I know you are far too good to be so vicious."

"Raaaawr..."

She went up to me and tried to talk me out of this but the Hessian's bloodthirsty instincts were too difficult to control.

With that, I jetted off out of the main entrance of the inn and went off to go and do a bit of slaughtering.

"Nathan! Nathan!"

"HAAAAAAA! RAAAAAAWR! AAAAAH!"

"Oh no...this isn't going to be good."

Now that I had fully transformed into the Hessian, Ariana was more concerned about me than ever.

She really wanted to help and to figure out a way to reverse it and to cure me, but somehow she knew it wasn't going to be easy.

--------------------------------------------------
Our hero has now turned into the Hessian. Has the spell fully affected him completely? Will he come to his senses? Or will be Michayala's ruthless cold-blooded killer?

Find out in part 6.
