TftW: Alex-A-Roo's Victory
It was the night of the big game between the Outbackers and the Night Wolves, the Outbackers got their name mainly because of their mascot being a cartoony Disney styled koala/kangaroo hybrid.
There were too announcers, one was a male announcer named Bruce who looked and sounded like Bruce Campbell and the other was Scott, his best friend who was also a deadite.
Andrew passed the ball over to Alex who made his way up to the frontline and make the final shot when..
"Alex!"
"Nathan, you came here to watch me!"
"Yeah..but that's not what I came here to do though!"
"What?"
"I came to tell you about that gem!"
"What about it?"
"It's still with you."
Alex reached up to the net and was about to make the shot when he started to feel strange and fell to the ground.
"Aaagh."
"Looks another member of the Outbackers has fallen down!"
"Indeed so Bruce, this team doesn't seem to be very lucky tonight."
"What's going on?"
The gem started glowing as his basketball jersey started tightening as redish fur started poking through it.
"Oh my.."
"I haven't seen anything like this in over 10 years, how about you Bruce?"
"I'm afraid I haven't either.."
His jersey tightened up more and more until it ripped apart revealing redish fur growing all over his upperbody and the upperbody itself growing more muscular.
His hands started elongating and swelling out as his arms also grew more muscular and also developed redish fur as the fingernails grew longer becoming claws, his hands became paw-like, like those of a kangaroo.
"Oh my...this doesn't look good."
"Well Brucey, what do you make of this?"
"In all my many years as an announcer/demigod, I have never witnessed such a sight before."
"Yeah, it's peculiar - that Alex kid seems to be turning into something!"
His shorts started to get tight as slowly but surely his legs started growing redish fur on them too and grew more muscular.
This was followed by a tail growing out and ripping out of the back of his shorts, a furry, long, kangaroo tail to be exact.
"Would you look at that Bruce. That Alex kid is turning into a Kangaroo!"
"Yeah, he's looking mighty good there though!"
His sneakers were tightening as well as his feet started elongating and growing larger to support his more muscular legs.
His shoes ripped apart revealing redish fur had grown on his feet and that his toenails had become more sharpened like claws as his feet were resembling the large feet of a kangaroo.
"Struth, Bruce! That Alex kid is looking very kangaroo-like to me!"
"And look at the muscle on him. That's definitely not the result of roids or human growth hormone there!"
His ears began moving to the top of his head and elongating becoming kangaroo-like as fur grew on his face, his nose turning black as his eyes got smaller and his brow got slightly larger.
His nose and mouth began to fuse as his face pushed out into a muzzle, his voice deepenend and became more badass finalizing the transformation - he was now a red kangaroo.
"Holy toledo! That Alex kid has just turned into a kangaroo!"
"You could say that again."
"And with just a few seconds left until the game is over.."
He got back up and jumped up with great strength, grabbing the ball with his paws and tossing it up in the air before leaping over the other players and reaching the net.
"He's there, he's near the net!"
"He's gonna make the final shot!"
"I can barely contain my excitement."
When he reached the net, he bounced the bowl and performed a slam dunk and not just any slam dunk, a spectacular slow motion slam dunk.
"Woah. Bruce, did you say that?"
"Yeah, he made the shot!"
The number on the scoreboard went up from Outbackers 6 to 11, as the game finished - he had not only helped the Outbackers get back on top but also win the game.
"Yes! He did it! The Outbackers win!"
"The Outbackers win, The Outerbackers win!"
"Well there you have it folks, another victory for the famous Outbackers and their new player Alex-A-Roo."
"Alex-A-Roo, Bruce?"
"Yeah, Scott. Because he's turned into a kangaroo."
"Oh I see."
"Groovy!"
And with that the crowd cheered as the rest of the team carried Alex-A-Roo into the locker room to celebrate their victory.
As for what happened later, Alex became one of the most popular sports players in monster sport history and one of the first to ever transform in the middle of the game.
Remember, when playing monster sports of any kind, it is not whether one wins or loses but how you play the game - and sometimes it can surprise you.
