Top 12 Non Disney Animated movies
Hi there, Monstermaster13 here with another one of my top 12 lists. This list is of my top 12 Non Disney animated movies.
12. Anastasia
This movie was one of my favorite childhood movies, it was made by Don Bluth who also made Rock A-Doodle, The Secret of Nimh, and Land Before Time.
The songs in this movie are brilliant especially the tear-jerkingly beautiful Once Upon A December, and the extremely epic In The Dark of The Night.
I remember enjoying this movie a lot especially whenever Rasputin and Bartok were on screen.
11. Robots
Another 20th Century Fox made movie, Robots is just hillarious and I love the characters especially Fender.
The cast is superb including the bit parts like Paula Abdul as the voice of the watch, and there are many funny moments.
There's even a fire hydrant voiced by the king of late night himself Jay Leno. Boy, Leno seems to be making quite a lot of appearances on my lists.
10. Despicable Me
Ah Despicable Me. What a fantastic supervillain movie. I got the movie out on dvd and right from the start I loved every single moment of it.
Gru is an excellent character, very reminicent of Peter Sellers and Rowan Atkinson and extremely likable.
But the best part of it are the Minions. I just love these guys, they are the funniest most adorable characters in the movie and I just love their antics on screen.
9. Rock A Doodle
My friend Blackbluedawg introduced me to this via the character Chancellor of his monster gang.
I just love this movie, it's got some really fun moments but the scenes with the Duke in them are just really epic.
8. Chicken Run
The first Dreamworks film I ever saw, Chicken Run is just an absolute blast to watch from start to finish.
The chickens are funny and not to mention have motives, they want to escape the farm before Mrs Tweedy can get her hands on them and turn them into pies.
But the highlights for me are the scenes with the rats, those two rats are hysterical. As is Fowler, this old fashioned rooster is a former RAF member who goes by the rules.
My favorite lines from the movie include "My whole life flashed before my eyes...it was really boring!" "Pushy americans, always showing up late for every war.." "I don't want to be a pie...I don't like gravy!" And the various quips that the two rats often say.
7. Wallace and Gromit: Curse of The Wererabbit.
As you can probably tell by my username I love monsters specifically werecreatures and other monsters that can either transform or transform others.
This is the feature length debut of the famous duo Wallace and Gromit and it's also a wonderful homage to horror movies especially The Wolfman, The Fly, King Kong and many more.
The first transformation scene actually pays homage to an American Werewolf In London's famous TF scene as well as the Incredible Hulk.
This movie was hillarious and really good fun, I heavily reccomend watching it.
6. Igor
Like I've just mentioned, I love monsters and anything that involves them. Igor is a wonderful movie that has a rather humorous take on the mad scientist genre.
The voice cast is without a doubt very enjoyable especially John Cusack as the voice of Igor, Steve Buschemi as the voice of Scamper the undead rabbit, Sean Hayes as the voice of the not-too-bright brain in a jar and Molly Shannon as voice of the beautiful Eva.
But the best characters here are the villains, Dr Schaudefraude (voiced by Eddie Izzard) and King Malbert. Who is one of my favorite non disney villains and who also happens to be voiced by Jay Leno.
The tone of the movie reminds me a bit of Tim Burton with a bit of Mel Brooks and John Landis thrown in.
And in case you're wondering I will see Hotel Transylvania when it comes out. And yes I know Adam Sandler is in it.
5. The Magic Pudding
This is another one of my favorite childhood movies, this one is based on Australian children's book about a magical pudding that can shapeshift.
Our main protagonists in this story are Bunyip Bluegum, a koala who is the on search for his missing parents, Bill Barnacle - a rough and tumble sailor type, and his best friend Sam who is a lovable penguin.
The story and songs are brilliant and well written and the jokes are hillarious, especially the ones involving the pudding who is voiced by John Cleese.
The pudding's name in the movie is Albert and he has the power to transform into any kind of pudding no matter what flavour it is.
4. The Tale Of Despereaux
I'm not one for mice since i'm more of a rat person but I just love this movie so much, it's got the right mix of fantasy and romance as well as dark moments as well.
Despereaux is such an adorable character and he is fearless and he likes to go on adventures, he's right up there with Basil from Great Mouse Detective and Fievel from An American Tale.
This movie is enjoyable and fun, unfortunately the bad part of this is that those who saw it in theaters had to endure the Coraline trailer at the beggining.
3. Shrek
I love the Shrek series especially the first one, because of how funny it is and my favortie character in the Shrek series is Lord Farquaad.
Sure he's a villain but he's just so hillarious and it's hard not to like him even though he has a bad case of the Napoloeon complex.
Of course Puss In Boots is my other favorite character from the series in general but the first one holds a very dear place in my heart.
2. Ice Age 2: The Meltdown
I admit that I never saw this one in the theaters but upon giving it a watch on dvd I really grew to like it, the original 'Sub Zero Heroes' are back along with some new additions.
The first new addition is Fast Tony, an armordillo type creature who is the sleezy salesman type and is voiced once again by Jay Leno.
The second new addition is Ellie, a female mammoth voiced by Queen Latiphah, she was raised by possums and serves as the big sister to these two lovable scamps:
Crash and Eddie are two extremely adorable and mischevious possums that like playing jokes and just goofing around and doing crazy stunts. These two are my favorite characters in the movie.
Crash is voiced by Sean William Scott while his brother Eddie is voiced by the ever-so-adorable Josh Peck. Aaaaw Josh Peck. That adorable sweetheart from the Nickelodeon stars roster.
There are certain males or females that when you think of them or how they look you're pretty much reduced to a pile of dripping ooze.
And Josh Peck is one of those. He is the living definition of cute, he's always been funny and cute - even when he was chubby and he still IS cute.
I wouldn't mind finding those two possums on my driveway at all. They may be mischevious but they're too cuddly to be considered pests.
This movie was funny and had some really clever jokes in it and I heavily reccomend watching it.
And 1...
1. Megamind
I have already said how much I love the movie Megamind and it's story, characters and so on but this is one film that I can't stop watching over and over.
All the lines are memorable and funny, and some of them have even got infectious - mainly Meg's misprounictions of certain words among others.
For those who say it wasn't all that good, shame on them.
Luckily there's a fan commitee out there on livejournal for fans of the movie and the characters which I am now
proud to be a member of.
Megamind....what can I say? He's too fantastic!
