Little Pop Shop Of Wonder

Ever wonder where our favorite microbe and his equine friend went for their first adventure and where the two first established who they were? It was the year 2021, specifically it was the month of December and it was on the tenth, which meant it was a very special day for someone who was their guardian and protector, their guardian was celebrating her birthday and they were going to go somewhere very special. You see, their protector and guardian, Mel the koala-girl was going to go to the funko pop store in Takapuna and the duo was invited to come along and she needed them to come with them. ‘Corey…Oats, could you come here please?’ ‘Yes?’ ‘It’s my birthday today and I have a special adventure planned.’ Oats inquisitively looked up at the one he called his mommy, making cute little whinnying noises as Corey bounced over. ‘You’re planning an adventure for us?’ ‘Oh yes, there’s an entirely new adventure I am going on.’ ‘Are we involved in it too?’

“You two are coming with me today..”

“Where to?”

“To Retrospace of course, the pop shop.”

“Sounds awesome..can I bring my new friend?”

“You sure can, Oatsie.”

Corey had been traveling with Oats for a while and they had been getting along, but they had never gotten to fully establish who they were and both of them really wanted to become friends, they had been friends since the beginning of 2021 and they really were excited about going. ‘Hey..Corey…I was wondering.’ ‘Yes?’ ‘I’d like to get to know you more, how about we go on an adventure together?’ ‘An adventure? Sure, what kind?’ ‘Well my Microbian friend, mommy says we’re going to a funko pop store today, let’s see if we can be friends with any of the characters we see in the store.’ ‘Yeah.’ Mel whistled to them as she put on her shoes and got ready to go out, the duo looked over and smiled, getting ready themselves.

“Come on, let’s go.”

“Right behind you, buddy.”

The duo put on their shoes and hopped inside Mel’s blue bag as a magical van materialized in the garage, Corey had just been adjusting to following others and had been looking forward to getting to know his equine friend, as Mel got inside the van and buckled up, the two of them smiled. ‘By the way, I don’t believe we’ve gotten to know each-other.’ ‘Oh we have, we just haven’t done anything together.’ Before they set out they had a lunch of pasta and pizza and some lovely cake for dessert.

The two of them looked around as they went past all the shops and stores of the streets, and when they reached Takapuna both of them were very happy when the van stopped and they arrived at the store known as Retrospace. They had seen this place many times before but they had never gone to it until now, the two of them along with Mel walked out of the van as they looked at the store entrance.

“This must be the place.”

“Yeah…given it’s a Funko pop store and all.”

The door of the shop opened as they walked over to it with Mel and entered the store, they gazed in wonder as all of the Pops on display came to life like the toys in Toy Story and they performed and sang a little number with Corey and Oats. Mel cruised around the store and she knew what she wanted to do, she wanted to see there were any pops she wanted on her list and that began with multiple searches. Corey and Oats meanwhile came across a tunnel to the clearance room and they slid down it as they befriended several characters that were there, they even discovered a cute little halloween train with Nightmare Before Christmas characters in the carts.

“Look at the cute little train.”

“Let’s take a look and see if we can have a ride.”

Jack Skellington offered to give the duo a ride and the two of them went through the tunnel with Jack, going past numerous different Pop displays and making new friends along the way, seeing all kinds of quirky characters and interesting sights, including a special machine that spawned out mini living Pops, Corey broke out into a song and merrily sang along with Jack as they went through the tunnel, after exiting the tunnel the tunnel the train stopped and the two of them arrived in the clearance section with the pops and action figures that were waiting to talk to them, the duo befriended many of them.

“Isn’t this lovely?”

“I certainly think so.”

The next part of the tour began with several game challenges for the two of them to play, there were shelves of pops that came to life and helped them in the games. They examined all the shelves and performed a series of numbers togethers, before running around the store and having all sorts of fun with the duo. And that wasn’t all, Corey and Oats took on the form of living Funko Pop versions of themselves that had mouths and they all sang with the others, they played around for several minutes and couldn’t help but get carried away with the fun, a couple of minutes later they saw two funko Pops come up to them and greet them, there were halloween versions of Simpsons characters specifically Marge and Bart Simpson, Bart was a friendly werewolf and Marge was a beautiful anthro styled panther-woman with blue fur.

That’s when Mel picked the two pops up along with the duo and paid for them. ‘Aaaaw, thanks for buying us some friends’. ‘Come on boys, it’s time for us to go home.’ ‘I wish we could stay here or bring all of our friends home with you.’ ‘We’ll see what we can do.’ ‘Yaaay, come on Oatsie!’, the duo had several photos taken with Mel who held up their new funko pop friends before getting out of the shop and back into the van and heading home.

“Alright, come on…let’s introduce everyone at home to our friends.”

“Oh yes, that’s a great idea.”

When the two arrived home they had a lovely time together celebrating Mel’s birthday and having a good time, they had some yummy food and spent some time snuggling and playing with their new funko friends, and it wasn’t long until more funko friends were added, well they arrived at Christmas time, and what a fantastic Christmas holiday season they had. A couple of weeks after they went to see Sing 2 at the movie theater with Koowee the koala who was excited to see her famous cousin Buster Moon, and after that they saw Ghostbusters Afterlife and went on a wild Ghostbusters adventure with Phoebe, Podcast, and Lucky along with the surviving members of the original team.

From then on…the two of them were now best of friends and went on many adventures together, and of course once January 2022 hit they all decided it would be perfect to visit Weta Workshop and eventually they did, but that adventure is another episode, and the followup to this one. The duo known as Corey and Oats were now bound to go on more adventures to come, and have a lot of fun in the process.
