 The Life Aquatic With Corey and Oats

To say Corey the covid Microbe and Oats the horse were besties would be an understatement, these two cuties did everything together and went everywhere. Corey was always game for meeting new friends and discovering new secrets and one day the two of them went on a trip to meet some very special friends. Oats was told that they were going to go to a fish shop that specializes in species of fish that people could own as pets so he dressed up all special in a tropical pink dress with a fin-tail design, he trotted around waiting for Corey. ‘Today is the day, yaaaay, today is the day!’ He put on his special shoes. Corey emerged from the bedroom dressed in a special explorer gear outfit.

“You look awesome.”

“Thanks…we’re going to see some interesting creatures today.”

‘We sure are.’ The two of them headed to the door as a magical floating van appeared in front of them and they decided to hop on board, they went past numerous different shops until they arrived at a specialty pet store. Corey was very curious and once the two of them had gotten out of the van they decided to walk around and pose for photos outside of the shop before the doors magically opened and they decided to take a look around.

“Here we are. Look at this place.”

“There are cute fish, and even some fish that look different.”

“Indeed..look at some of them.”

The whole place seemed to be perfect for aquatic pets, as it had an assortment of different fish species and even some that they thought were really funny. ‘Ooh, look at the puffers.’ ‘And those googly-eyed goldies’...’Yeah, they are hilarious and cute.’ Oats took out his camera and took photos of the fish, being ever so inquisitive he decided to look around more, as he did, he developed gills on his neck and he gained aquatic attributes as he became an anthro sea-horse. ‘Hey Corey, look at me, i’m…a seahorse. See? A seahorse!’ ‘Oh you and your humor, Oatsie.’ Corey examined the tank with the clownfish inside it and excitedly piped up. ‘Hey look, it’s Nemo.’ ‘Is his dad with him?’’I don’t know, we could ask if you want.’

Just then the store filled up with water, turning the interior of the shop into an aquatic wonderland where the two of them could swim around together. Corey found himself developing a couple of fins and become a mix of his regular red color and neon blue as he also developed gills and fin-like ears, becoming an aquatic half-fish-creature microbe. Their friend Keith the tardigrade popped up and educated them on the subject of fish, which made both of them happy as they swam around.

“Isn’t that awesome? Look..we’re underwater.”

“Not quite, but yeah I see what you mean.”

The two swam around talking to the fish and getting up to all sorts of antics as a water slide materialized and the two of them climbed up it together and slid down it..’wheeeeee!’ Oats whinnied as the two went down the waterslide and down into a pool of water and the two of them performed a song about fish to a group of people. Oats couldn’t believe what he was seeing, it was fantastic, it was amazing, it was all he had ever hoped for…all of those wonderful fish in their tanks. Some of them even taught the duo about what species they were.

“This is all sorts of fun. Look, they love us.”

“Look, I found a tunnel.”

Corey found a little tunnel in the back which led to a special pool and the two of them dove down into it while Oats swam gracefully and practiced some underwater ballet moves,of course this was only part of the fun…as a couple of hours later, the duo took part in a swimming contest with some fish-creatures and learned all about how fish come in many different sizes and shapes. Oats even learned a bit about the pretty colors each of the tropical fish had and inquired if they were any fish that were pink. ‘Yes, there are quite a few pink fish…’, the duo posed for photos and performed shows together.

“Come on…let’s have a fishy party.”

“Yaaaay! A fish party!”

For the next few minutes or so, they had a good time relaxing in the fish shop and conversing with fish but as the water drained out of the building and everything returned to normal…Corey was looking out of the window as he saw Mel calling to them by the end of the tunnel. The brown-haired koala-girl appeared to them as a mer-koala who swam around, the duo listened to her and swam over to where she was. ‘There you two are, i’ve been looking all over for you.’ ‘We’ve been having so much fun, mommy.’ ‘Yeah I wish we could have a party like this at home.’ ‘Well I might be able to do something about that.’ ‘Like what?’ ‘I’ll tell you when we get home, but for now come along…it’s time to go home.”

“Do we have to?”

“Yes..do we?”

“Now now, it’s okay…we’ll come back to it again soon.”

‘I hope so, this is fun.’ Corey and Oats followed Mer-koala Mel through the tunnel and came out the end as their normal selves and back near the entrance with their friend Keith the Tardigrade who was sharing life experiences with passersby. ‘Don’t you worry, you’ll get to have a LOT more aquatic fun once you’ll see what i’ve got for you at home.’ ‘Yaaay!’. Mel swam over to a ground/land spot on the floor and her mermaid tail morphed back into her legs as she looked over at the duo and picked them up, carrying them in her blue bag. Corey and Oats had definitely had a good time, the floating van appeared before them as all of them got onboard it and headed for home.

It certainly didn’t take long for them to return to their favorite home and that’s where Mel presented them with their surprise, she had set up a special aqua party for her friends that was like an aquarium combined with a waterpark and she instructed the two to put their best ‘water shoes’ on, Corey and Oats turned into their aquatic forms as they started to party and have a good time, going on a couple of the water-slides together and playing with the fish, and thus with that the fun continued on through the afternoon and through the evening, the two had never been happier.

As for what happened later, that night when Mel put them to bed they all had sweet dreams of their aquatic adventures and of swimming together, it was from then on that the two of them realized they weren’t just friends, they were adventure buddies, their destiny as adventure buddies had been set up from the get-go, Corey didn’t think he would be able to be friends with Oats but eventually he found out that the two of them make a great pair.
