TftW: Monster Love
John Belushi inspired monster tf.

In this world there are many types of reviewers and one of those reviewer types is a bad media slayer,  a bad media slayer is someone who slays bad media in general and one such slayer was Matthias T. Radke aka That Werebelushi In The Shades.  Everyone's favorite sarcastic John Belushi inspired monster and rant show host was extremely popular for his comedic stylings and his show in general,  so much so that there were even conventions that had him as a guest panelist.  Tonight's protagonist Sully was a fan of his show and was invited to a special Creature Con convention,  he was especially excited since he knew his favorite monster reviewer would be there.

And he was right,  a few minutes later after taking a shortcut he arrived at the Creature Con convention center and that's where he saw the panelists.  He saw the Channel Awesome inspired gargoyle crew doing a live show and most importantly he saw Matthias/Shades, who was in the middle of talking about an anthology show he did reviews on, sometimes highlighting the best of and/or the worst of said show and comparing them to the original stories in the books they were based on.  'Night Of Alterations? Ah yes,  my favorite anthology series to discuss.  I first became aware of the books much like with Goosebumps or the Haunting Hour.' 'What was the first episode of the series that you remember watching/reviewing and liking?'  'That was Dead-School Blues.  A really faithful adaptation of the book,  the atmosphere of the abandoned school was eerie yet breathtaking, and of course the Thriller tribute with the sports team.'

'What was the worst episode you saw or the one that made you question everything?' 'That would easily be These Monsters Aren't My Relatives.  Don't get me wrong, the episode's use of surreal visuals and crazy monster designs made for an interesting combination but it's the plot itself that confused me.  Especially since it wasn't entirely clear on whether or not these creatures the main kid lives with are indeed his relatives.  That and it was basically a Meet The Applegates knockoff.  The book wasn't bad,  a little confusing but I liked it as opposed to the episode.'

"Are there any episodes you wish hadn't gotten sequels?"

"Ugh..pretty much all of the Curse Of Carwarden School stories.  There was only one installment in the books of that particular series except for the one that explained how Mrs Davis became a monster to begin with.  The only saving grace for the sequel episodes are the ghost effects,  and Anjelica Huston as Mrs Davis."

"Which episode do you wish you would personally written yourself?"

"That would definitely be....Museum Of Oddities. What a fantastic setting for a story in general,  very Island Of Doctor Moreau meets House Of Wax.  And the monsters who turned out to be helpful were excellent."

"That episode is definitely my favorite from season 4.  Especially that female Werebelushi character who helped the curator's son. In the book she is equally as lovable and I wish I could meet a character like her."

"Ah,  you have a crush on Prubella don't you?"

"Definitely...she's my favorite."

Sully blushed,  he admired the female werebelushi character Prubella...mainly because she was a plus sized sweetheart who despite her gruff appearance proved to be kindly towards the son of the museum curator,  he had wanted to meet a female monster like her but was too shy.  He was afraid of what said female monster might think of him.  Shades knew exactly how he felt.  'I know how you feel. It's like in the episode Monster In Law where Joseph is afraid to admit that he loves a woman who is a piranha-like fish-monster.'  'That episode always makes me tear up.'  'Same, the book is a tearjerker that's for sure but I was never the same after I saw the episode.'  'You know a lot about monster stories..have you ever considered writing some of your own?'

"Quite a few times, yes..."

"Have you ever made your own books?"

"Yes...several times."

"You must be a really popular guy.."

"You could definitely say that,  yes."

"There's something i've always wanted to ask you..."

"Sure..."

"How did you get your powers?"

Shades explained his backstory of how he started as a member of Channel Awesome who later appeared in an episode of his friend Nathan's own review show and how he got his werebelushi powers,  explaining every little detail that happened.  'That's an amazing backstory.  What was the first show or movie you reviewed in your current form?'  'That would be Dr Wormo's Madhouse, an Asylum-esque movie about a demented doctor.' 'Which episode of your show do you hate?' 'Definitely my combined rants on television shows and prison.  Early me really didn't have a specific motif at all.'

"Have you ever turned someone into one of your species?"

"I don't do assimilation,  so when I turn someone it is usually by accident."

"I was wondering if you could turn me into a werebelushi like you."

"You would like that?"

"Yeah...you have some really cool powers that I wish I had.  Like the heightened senses, super strength and tornado spin.  I wish I had those powers.  Those would come in extremely useful.  Especially your martial arts moves."

"I suppose I can help you with that."

He pulled out a monster amulet like the ones used in the game Muppet Monster Adventure,  it featured his signature likeness and all the pieces had been assembled together. 'Is that a real monster amulet?' 'It certainly is.'  'Where did you get it?' 'From the guy who runs the Scaretorium.'  'Does it really work?'  'Why yes it does.'  'That's awesome..can I wear it?' 'You certainly can.'  He trusted Sully enough to give the amulet to him and showed him how it works.  'Thank you.'

Sully placed the amulet around his neck and concentrated, and as he did he slowly bulked up and gained a bit of weight, becoming a bit chubby but also gaining a bit of muscle.  Dark brownish fur that appeared to be black in some spots covered his arms,  his arms significantly broadened as his fingers thickened and his hands also enlarged,  they were still quite flexible though.  His fingernails sharpened, resembling claws.  'Woah,  check these babies out!'  'I can see it's working already.'

Shades watched as Sully's outfit slowly changed,  becoming basically a male horror host type ensemble consisting of a plus sized tux with a wilted rose in one of the pockets. His feet slowly altering to match his hands as he felt his much larger stomach.  'This tickles! And I look so cuddly too.'  He chuckled as hedgehog/porcupine-like quills emerged out of his back and then retracted.  His shoulders and back broadened but this didn't hinder his posture in any way.   His hair slowly lengthened and turned a darker shade of brown with some black highlights, his neckline altering a bit in the process.

His ears developed pointed tips as the fur covered the rest of him,  including around his face. His eyebrows bushed up and one of them even arched, as his eyes darkened for a little before glowing neon green.  He felt his face with his hands,  his nose turning black as his strength increased and his senses heightened.   His canine teeth sharpened while his features slowly morphed and reshaped themselves, his face plumping up as he took on the appearance of the late John Belushi, only with dark eye makeup materializing itself around his eyes.  His voice altered to match his appearance, giving him Belushi's voice, only deeper and gruffer as his transformation completed. 'Awesome,  i'm a werebelushi like you now!'  'You certainly are...wanna be partners?'  'Certainly!'.

The two of them shook hands,  but not before a cackling sound was heard...that cackling coming from a villain who had decided to invade the convention.  That scientist was a rat-like scientist named Diseazo and he was a plague based supervillain.  'Diseazo! We meet again.'  'Indeed we do',  alongside Diseazo was his hunchbacked daughter Yvonne.  'Ugh...dad,  as if you couldn't get any more embarrassing.'  'I'm not, I swear.'  'You bragged to everyone that you were one of the most popular supervillains ever.  And showed your villain buddies pictures of me as a child.'  'I know I know..but the latter is only because I love you.'

"Who's the hunchback?"

"That's Yvonne...the daughter of Diseazo, one of my arch enemies...and she's supposed to be grotesque."

"Aaaaaw...she looks adorable. And yet they call her ugly?"

Yvonne was often considered ugly by monster-girl standards even though she looked like Molly Ringwald, just with a hunched back and bushy eyebrows.  She was humanoid but had a few monster traits,  which made Sully want to hug her and also he fell head over heels in love with her.  The two werebelushis stood next to eachother as Diseazo sent his henchmen after the duo,  but the duo used their powers to defeat several of them all at once.

Shades rescued the other attendants of the convention at the exact same time, proving that you don't need muscles to be a hero.  He fought off the remaining half of the henchmen as well before knocking out his nemesis with a sonic belching ability that sent him flying through several walls. A few minutes later,  the police arrived and captured Diseazo, taking him to prison as the police trucks took off.  'Thanks mr Werebelushi,  you're a hero to everyone here.'  'I couldn't have done it without my new companion.' 'You really mean that?'  'Of course I do...'

Sully hugged his mentor before running over to where Yvonne was,  feeling sorry for her he offered to sit next to her and while she was reluctant at first she found herself growing to liking him.  'Would you like to...'?  'Like to, what, my friend?'  'Go out with me?'.  'I would, you seem like a very nice guy.  I think we'd make a good pair.'   He hugged her and she hugged him back,  and thus with that the werebelushi and the hunchback-girl embraced and cuddled up together,  the two of them bonded and spent the rest of their time at the convention with their friend and mentor.

As for what happened later, both Sully and Yvonne gained followers and became a cute not-quite-couple that was unconventional but also adorable at the same time.  And thus brings us to the moral of the story, no matter what species you are, you are sure to find someone to love you and someone to appreciate you for who and what you are, remember...even monsters can find true love.
