Every year the gang at Nile Road would always have ‘special’ episodes whether it be specials about a staff member leaving, the death of a beloved friend or even holiday specials such as halloween, valentines, summer and Christmas specials and this year was no exception, it had been a year since the pink love-heart  anglerfish known as Augini had joined the family and he/they was having their second valentines day with the family.

Piff the Pufferfish however was having his very first valentines day special with the gang and he was looking forward to it,  he joined the cast of friends in July of last year - initially he didn’t have a fleshed out personality and he had trouble expressing himself but he discovered how funny he could be, and just how cheeky he could be and his humor won him the attention of many admirers - and in November off that year he got himself his own girlfriend (after what seemed like weeks of having affairs with other fish, some would love him and leave him, some he would dump because they were not his species or compatible with him) named Tangie.

And now it was Valentines Day 2025 and he was one extremely excited little fish. He had been having a romantic week with Tangie and he even went on a lunch date with her the day before at Glenfield Mall. That morning the gang all jumped out of bed, and they all had breakfast.

After breakfast Mel had a shower and her friends all watched and afterwards Mel wrote an adventure about Piff’s lunch date with Tangie, this was followed by having a nice meal for lunch and after lunch they decided to go on a special adventure based on all the pictures Mel had made of her friends.

They visited a valentines themed waterpark and all got ready to go in the pool, as Oats put on a pink swim-suit and goggles while Corey put on his bat print swim trunks and Piff and Tangie jumped in.  Piff goofed around and tried to impress Tangie with some boogie board tricks and played with a fish pool toy, which Tangie really loved.

They splashed around in the pool for a couple of hours before getting out of the pool and going to several of their favorite places like Dreamworld in Australia, Alton Towers and even in some aquariums Piff had found. Piff and Tangie even had a meal together at La Tropezienne in Browns Bay and gazed in awe at the fish toilet.

Piff even danced with Tangie at an underwater themed disco as Augini provided disco lights, they all had a lovely time together in the afternoon and had afternoon tea at a lovely underwater cafe.  After that they received a special valentines day surprise in the form of a visit from Jill.

Jill presented Piff and Tangie with a card which Piff gave to Tangie followed by white and pink marshmallows and chocolate fish, and another surprise in the form of a new squishmallow friend arrived - a valentines clown squishmallow named ‘Cupid’ (well that his name was for the meantime, Piff had not decided on what to rename him yet).

They had grapes and played around for a bit and Jill talked to Belinda, afterwards they all sat around the table in their house at Nile Road and played loved songs and this opened up a series of ‘music video’ segments which played out, including Oats as David Bowie singing ‘As The World Falls Down’ and imagining himself as Jareth with an anthro unicorn version of Sarah.

Mel sang ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ and imagined a music video where she was Lois Lane and her boyfriend was Superman, Piff imagined himself as Robert Palmer singing ‘Addicted To Love’ with a group of female anthropomorphic fish dressed in the outfits the girls in the music video wore including Tangie.

Corey and Alcina imagined themselves in a reenactment of Top Gun as they sang ‘Take My Breath Away’, Aiyido sang Dream Weaver by Gary Wright as imagined going into the dreams of his beholder girlfriend Delilah and taking her on a romantic outing through a castle.

Piff saw himself performing as Piff Loaf (a homage to Meat Loaf) in a gothic castle and singing…’I’d do anything for Tangie, oh i’d do anything for Tangie. I’d swim into the deep sea and back. I’d do anything for Tangie, i’d never lie to her and that’s a fact. But i’d never forget the way she makes me feel right now, no way. I’d do anything for Tangie, oh i’d do anything for Tangie, but I won’t do that.’

This got more elaborate in a Jim Steinman-like manner as Piff sang about all the things he would and would not do for Tangie, and like in the song what exactly he would not do for Tangie was a mystery. ‘Oh Piffy, would you swim up and save me if I drowned?’  ‘I can do that.’  ‘Oh Piffy, would you comfort me around and cuddle me if I am scared or upset?’ ‘I can do that.’  ‘Would you cater to every fish romance fantasy that I have got or swim with me in the tub if the water is not too hot?’ ‘Oh you know I can do that.’

They all had a party together and sang together before dinner came and they all sat at the table and Piff and Tangie even went fishing together with everyone and Tangie cheered her fishy boyfriend on.  They caught lots of fish as Piff giggled when he caught another pufferfish. ‘Look, it’s another one of my species! I keep catching my own species sometimes! Isn’t that funny?’

‘Oh yes it is,  you’re such a funny fish.’  ‘Oh Tangie, you are my sweet little angelfish delight cake with extra sweet orange icing on top!’ ‘And you are my adorable miso zuke with two spring rolls and a riceball on the side!’   Anglo laughed at Piff and Tangie’s food themed terms of endearment, ‘Oh you guys, you always make me go bright red everytime you say them’.

After their karaoke session was finished they all got ready for bed, Corey put on his bat pajamas as Oats put on a heart print night-gown, they all brushed their teeth in the bathroom and after brushing their teeth they all went back into the bedroom.

They picked out friends to snuggle up with and jumped on the bed, they all said good night to each-other and drifted off to sleep as Augini turned off the light and said happy valentine's day to all of them and kissed them.

When they all drifted off to sleep they had some extra nice romantic dreams as they entered the land of dreams, even meeting some Valentines themed squishmallows in the land of Squishville.  

And thus their adventure had come to an end but more are coming up so stay tuned.
