Similar to the werecow one this is based on a dream i've had a couple of nights ago in which there was an animal-girl transformation, this one being a hippo-girl of some kind and the change taking place at night.

A trip to the zoo can be a most wonderful thing, you get to see all kinds of animals and learn all about them as well. And everyone has a favorite exihibit they like to go to and a favorite animal that they like to see, Mya's was definitely hippos, she loved them a lot, so much so that she even had a pair of homemade hippo ears which she wore for fancy dress parties, one evening she was watching a documentary on hippos that was being aired on the Animal Planet channel and she was enthralled by it.
She couldn't help but love seeing the mother hippo and her calves, and was even more in love with how the documentary showed the more nurturing side of hippos in general. She hugged her favorite hippo plush as she watched the documentary, falling ever so in love with everything about it. A couple of hours later she decided to pay a visit to a special friend of hers, that friend of hers being a female phasm named Phantasma.
"Phantasma! I have a new wish that I thought up of."
"And what may that wish be?"
"I saw a documentary on hippos and I fell in love with how they were portrayed. I want to be a Cute Hippo-Girl if that is possible, because if it is then I simply would have to be that. Do you think you could do that?"
"Sure..."
"Okay then, I wish I was a cute Hippo-girl."
"So you wish it...so it shall be."
Supernatural energy jolted through the female phasm's fingers and into her body, causing her to get a warming sensation all over as her skin slowly underwent a change in color, turning a light pinkish-red color with a few brown spots as her body slowly expanded starting with her chest and torso. Her arms broadened as her hands shifted, her nails roughening a bit as her fingers thickened and her tank top slowly began to tear apart while her breasts enlarged.
In addition to this she slowly began to grow taller while her belly stretched and bloated up, while her hips inflated a bit more, pushing against the seat of her pants, a small bump forming on the rear before her jeans tightened rapidly and eventually tore apart at the back to reveal that the bump had evolved into a short, stump-like tail. Her torn tank top elongated a bit and became a gown of some sorts while her jeans slowly became the other half of the outfit. Her socks tearing apart while her legs broadened and her feet shifted to look a bit like her hands.
Her hair slowly grew longer and a braid formed at the back as her back and shoulders broadened, her strength increasing to inhuman levels while her ears shifted to the top of her head, her eyes widening as her face slowly began to soften and push out, her teeth remaining normal but her incisors grew larger as her face slowly pushed out into a half muzzle resembling that of a hippo's as her voice deepened a bit.
Energy surged through her entire being as her change completed, she was now a female anthro hippo, which was to say she had become a rather adorable hippo-girl. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and was very impressed by what she saw, she hugged Phantasma after looking back at her.
"Oh thank you, thank you...thank you so much."
"You're welcome...is there anything you want to do now?"
"Well..."
It didn't take long for her to come up with an idea, and what an idea it was - she decided to type up a screenplay about a character who gets turned into an anthro hippo and she submitted the screenplay to the local tv network, luckily the Monster TV Network accepted the submission and decided to pitch it as a television series. The pilot titled 'The Fantastic Adventures Of Hippo-Woman' became a huge hit and eventually did become a popular series on the channel itself.
And thus with that she certainly did get a lot of attention for what she did, she became famous and a celebrity because of her transformation and because of the tv show based on her experience, she made appearances at conventions and had chat sessions with fans, and became quite the darling overnight.
As for what happened later, she embraced her newfound popularity and fame and later used it for good, helping out wherever she could and being a pseudo superheroine of sorts, helping out people that needed it and proving that it was possible to have a female hero in a show or movie without having to sexualize them. The fact she was a cute hippo-girl definitely helped her appeal, in addition to this she discovered she could turn into this form of hers at will.
Remember, there is so much that we can learn from the animal kingdom and also there are numerous ways in which we can relate to the animals and discover parts of ourselves we never knew were they before. In addition to this, there's a lot of opportunities for learning how to channel that favorite animal of yours including via magic.
