TftW: The Tale of the Walken

--------------------------------------------------

We are all familiar with the tales written by the Brothers Grimm, those fairy tales that are not just public domain but have been adaptated many times including by Walt Disney. You may think you know them, but they are far more gruesome than the ones Disney adaptated.

Most recently these inspired the NBC TV series Grimm and it's creatures known as 'Wesen'. But what most people don't realize is that a lot of these creatures inspired by the stories happened to be real.

Most normal people don't even realize that stories like these are in fact not just fairy tales..but warnings. These were to warn people who were bad that there would be consequences to their actions.

These influenced many other stories of this kind like Goosebumps, Tales From The Crypt and certain episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark and also a great majority of Creepypastas.

Now today's main character, Braeden - he did not know that these stories were in fact real and were warnings at all.

In fact he thought they were nothing but silly children's fables, then again - he didn't know about how much more gruesome the original stories were in contrast to their Disney counterparts.

One particular story his older siblings used to scare him with was the tale of the 'Walken', a supernatural being with a very vampiric aura - the alledged 'Walken' had been alive for centuries and was known for striking fear into the hearts of anyone who he had deemed to be a wrongdoer.

This being was known for it's tall , lanky frame, slightly sunken eyes and amazing inhuman strength and agility which was almost akin to those of a werecreature.

This being came out once every few nights on the night of the blood red moon, emergerging from the shadows to seek those who had done wrong in order to teach them lessons.

The most striking thing about this being was even though it was supernatural, it looked more human with the exception of it's pale skin, and eyes that turned aquamarine blue and teeth that sharpened and became like vampiric fangs when it transformed.

This being could also take control of it's victims dreams and make them into nightmares if he wanted to, often pitting the victims into nightmarish situations in which they have to fight their own worst fears in order to survive. And he would do it for kicks as well.

Braeden didn't entirely believe in the story of the "Walken" and thought it was just a stupid story that his siblings used to tell him to scare him into being good. That was until one night.

It was a rather dark and gloomy night in October and he was pulling a series of pranks on his siblings, his parents and even his friends. And boy were they getting sick and tired of his misbehavior. They decided to put together a plan to scare him straight and stop his prank related mayhem for good.

So that night they decided to send him out into the woods. Why? They told him that they would meet him there for a gathering.

Braeden ran through the woods, normally the woods didn't scare him but this time it did scare him, as he heard the sounds of various creatures hissing, snarling and growling.

"This place gives me the creeps. I sure hope my siblings and my friends get here soon..I don't think I can make it out here."

As he started running through the woods, he started seeing all kinds of weird things - he saw a young woman hiss and transform into a witch-like creature known as a Hexenbiest, two men fighting and turning into bear-like creatures called Jagerbars, and even a man with a bow and arrow turning into a horse-like creature called a Nuckelavee.

"Holy crap! Are those Wesen? They are! And they're real!"

But things didn't officially start getting frightening until he reached the darkest corner of the forest, after the Wesen were done trying to track him down - he decided to take a breather.

He looked up and saw that the clouds were parting revealing a blood red moon shining up in the sky, now he was getting scared.

"Oh no....I have a bad feeling about this."

He decided to make a quick run for it, but as he did he heard a series of ferocious low grows coming in his direction.

These growls did not sound like any creature he had seen before, it wasn't a savage werecreature type growl or a heavy metal death growl...it sounded more bloodthirsty than either of those but yet it sent a chill down his spine.

Just then the growls get louder and more sinister as they got closer, Braeden gasped in shock and horror as this was happening.

The creature that was making the growls got closer to him, swiftly moving out of the shadows with almost inhuman agility. Revealing itself, the creature revealed itself to be a humanoid, a male humanoid standing at 6'1 and looking extremely lithe.

The creature's skin was very pale and it had spiked up hair and a high forehead, it's eyes were an eerie aquamarine blue and were slightly sunken, it's brow was thicken and the eyebrows were slightly thin making them look as if they weren't there. The creature had a very thin set of lips which were contorted into a grimace of sorts.

Yet despite this creature being alive for several years - it didn't appear to age at all. It's fingernails were long and black, almost resembling claws but not quite.

"What are you?"

The creature turned to Braeden and spoke in a rather deep, low, gravelly voice with a rather haunting tone:

"I am....the Walken."

"W-W-Walken?"

"Yes....you know that story your siblings told you to scare you when you were little? Well it's a true story and I am very much real."

"What? You're real?"

"Yes..."

"But I thought it was just a stupid kiddie fairy tale."

"Oh....so you think that fairy tales are for kids, huh? Well kid, take a look around....I think you'll see that THESE types of fairy tales are a LOT more gruesome than you thought they were."

"What do you want from me?"

"I hear you have been bad...pranking all your friends and family members and never ceasing. I think it's time that I take you to my lair to teach you a lesson."

"No, don't take me away, foul creature...please."

"Please...call me Chris. The 'Walken' or 'Walkengeist' is just my nickname by the Wesen world. And i'm going to take to my lair whether you like it or not."

The Walken or 'Chris' grabbed Braeden with inhuman strength and jetted off towards a large carvenous cave.

When he reached the cave he ran at inhuman speed inside it, before dropping Braedon off. He turned to Braeden and let out a soft growl.

"What are you going to do to me?"

"Normally I would try and eat you or kill you...but I have something much better in store for you."

"Like what?"

"Hold still and i'll show you."

The Walken hissed and snarled as his skin grew even paler and his teeth lengthenend and sharpened, becoming pointed and sharp - like the teeth of the Hessian.

In addition to this the Walken's fingernails grew longer and resembling claws, with one swift swipe - he dug his clawed fingernails into Braeden's arm.

"Owww...what did you do that for?"

"You'll see..shortly."

Braeden started to feel rather ill as the effects of the scratch began to take effect right away.

Hs clothing ripped and tore only to be replaced with black and grey attire matching that of the Walken.

In addition to this his fingernails grew longer and slightly sharper and turned black, looking like the fingernails of the Walken.

"What's happening?"

"Well...whenever I scratch a victim with my claws...they slowly change and become more like me."

"What?"

He grew taller and more lithe until he was about 6'1 and spiked gauntlets appeared on his wrists, each gauntlet had an insignia on the front.

His hair slowly spiked up as his skin lost colour and turned pale as his eyes began to give off a supernatural glow and turn aquamarine blue.

In addition to this his skin lost it's colour and turned pale as his brows grew thinner but didn't vanish entirely.

His forehead grew higher up as his lips grew thinner and his eyes became slightly sunken as his features changed to look more and more like the Walken.

"Yes...you are becoming like me....you are becoming a 'Walken'."

"A Walken? Look I don't want to be a Walken."

"You should have apologized to your family for your bad behavior, then this wouldn't be happening to you."

His voice grew lower, harsher and a bit gravellier and gruffer but with the same haunting, distinctive tone as the Walken's own voice.

Finally he began to get a new set of attributes akin to the Walken's own, including inhuman agility and strength as well as heightenend senses, and an extremely high IQ.

He was now fully transformed - into a 'Walken' or 'Walkengiest' and was ready to hunt with his new master.

"You're right, master. I was such a fool to behave that way. Thanks for showing me the errors of my ways."

"You are welcome, Braeden."

"I'm ready to learn how to behave properly and how to follow in your fearsome footsteps. What should we do, master?"

"We shall begin the lessons now."

With that the Walken or 'Chris' began the lessons, starting with proper behavior and ettiquette and respect for other people or creatures and ending with how to be a skilled hunter and warrior just like him.

As for what happened to Braeden, he later apologized for his actions to his family and friends and reconnected with them.

So began the story of the legacy of the "Walken", a supernatural creature that's beyond supernatural that it's not just a legend...it's real.

Remember, fairy tales may seem like children's stories but if you only know them by their Disney counterparts - then you have seen nothing yet.

And remember to always be on your best behavior....or you might recieve a visit in the night from the 'Walken'.

Everytime the "Walken' scratches a person with their claws, that person becomes a 'Walken' too and joins him. So remember to be on the lookout for this beyond supernatural being.
